Cure Your Excessive Sweating
By: John Zarate
To this day I am unsure how or why I developed hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Excessive sweating
happened around the time I took a career change and started working in a corporate office environment.
Before this I wasn't even aware that the condition existed. In all likelihood my condition started as a result
of a combination of anxiety, stress and wearing formal corporate clothing. My symptoms were a
combination of sweaty hands, sweaty and smelly feet and worst of all, excessive underarm sweating. The
latter had the biggest impact on my self-esteem and conflict. I would arrive at work at 9.00am and within
30 minutes I would have huge sweat patches on my shirt. Even now when I look back I can still feel that
horrible cold, wet sensation of having to wear sweat drenched clothes.
Two different types of Excessive Sweating
Primary hyperhidrosis – excessive head sweating to overactive sweat glands, in the absence of any
underlying medical condition. Excessive sweating is a lot easier to handle than the secondary type, and
may be temporarily alleviated through the use of topical antiperspirants. Permanent relief is also possible
for sufferers, although you may not already know it. Good news is 95% of hyperhidrosis sufferers
experience Primary hyperhidrosis, and this type is easily beatable. Maintenance of proper hygiene to
eliminate the characteristic smell of sweat, scalp itchiness, is a temporary way to manage excessive head
sweating. Other more useful measures would be refraining from stimulants such as caffeine, which can
cause over-stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system.
Secondary hyperhidrosis – excessive head sweating triggered by an underlying medical condition. An
example of these conditions would be diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Excessive sweating could also be
due to hormonal imbalances in women experiencing menopause. Elimination of the underlying condition
would mean absence of the stimuli for excessive sweating, and thus absence of hyperhidrosis. This is
something your doctor is best to advise you on. To try to deal with my condition I started to adopt more
and more bizarre habits. I would go to the bathroom every 15 minutes or so to spray myself with
antiperspirant and stuff reams of toilet paper under my arms. Although this did temporarily stop my shirt
from becoming saturated, excessive sweating also meant that I could not raise my arms. Not only did this
make me look ridiculous, but it was very embarrassing. Excessive sweating exacerbated the sweating
because I had to clamp my arms constantly by my sides.
I used to dread giving presentations or having to write anything on the whiteboard in a meeting room. Not
only did I fear that people would see my sweat patches, but also that one of my clumps of toilet paper
might fall on to the floor in front of my colleagues. I also tried other things such as wearing a vest to
protect my shirt. And when one vest failed to stop the flood I tried wearing two. There are a wide range of
treatments for excessive sweating available in the marketplace. Some treatments require patients to take
ongoing medication, and others require surgical procedures.
Sweating Demon
Before committing to any of these treatments I strongly recommend excessive sweating sufferers first try
to overcome excessive sweating using natural therapies and self-help strategies such as Sweating Demon.
This is because they typically have fewer side effects than some of the harsher hyperhidrosis treatments.
Sweating Demon is your natural remedy answer for excessive sweating. There are a number of wonderful
resources available that provide detailed information on natural remedies and proactive management
strategies for beating excessive sweating. I hope this will help excessive sweating sufferers make
informed choices about which products will be most beneficial for the treatment of their condition of
excessive sweating.
