Oak Creek Student Senate
Meeting Minutes
February 25, 2009
Meeting started at 12:09 p.m. in the A100C.
Present were: Perla Martinez, Peter Linvik, Moyses Garay,Joshua
Lechmaier, Nicole Preussler, Melissa Burazin, Peter Schwartz, Peter
Linvik, Moyses Garay, Chris Hintz. Excused were: Jenny Zadrzynski,
Roual May. Absent were: Carlos Santibanez (dropped), Chris Clark,
Leng Xiong, Dennis Tsausis, Joseph Mead.
Minutes of February 11 were approved by Perla Martinez and second
by Joshua Lechmaier. Motion carried.
Reports
WSG Conference – The three issues covered were credit
transferability, Vets tuition and Financial Aid funding. Meetings with
Legislative reps went well and two of the workshops were helpful in
lobbying and Paul Gabriel talking about the state funding decrease
and how it will affect us.
Candidate Dinner – was nicely done with an elegant location, good
food and a short program. Milwaukee Campus was in charge of the
dinner. Almost all the candidates did attend the function.
Soul Food Buffet – Guest speaker was good and the comments
made by his daughter about the President’s day were a nice touch.
The food was great and CASA tried very hard to keep to the ethnic
food selection. Cathy Lechmaier liked the student poems and
thought they brought in a special touch to the program. It has been
requested to put the buffet into the budget for next year.
Old Business
Athletic Budget/Addition to 2009/2010 Budget– Nicole asked why
the budget started out with a negative balance ( ) denotes in the red.
No one knew the answer so Joshua Lechmaier made a motion to
give the students attending the 3/13 meeting approval to pass or fail
the budget once the answers were given. Chris Hintz seconds the
motion. Motion carried.
Joshua Lechmaier made a motion to put the Soul Food Buffet into the
budget for next year. Chris Hintz seconds the motion. Motion
carried.
Casino Night – Chris Hintz gave details on the Chili Cook Off
Contest. Cathy Lechmaier passed around a sign up sheet for
dealers. There will be an Inter Clubs Council Meeting tomorrow at
noon to finalize plans for Casino Night.
Health Care Meeting – Chris Clark was not present to discuss
details.
Approval of new Senators – with no objections coming forth from
the Student Body five new senators were elected to the Oak Creek
Campus. Nicole Preussler, Peter Schwartz, Joseph Mead, Roual
May and Dennis Tsausis.
New Business
SLC Reps - Nicole, Joshua, Chris and Leng will be attending the
next meeting on 2/27/09. For the 3/13 meeting Chris, Leng and
Angela will be attending.
No Club Reports were given at this time.
Concerns from floor
Cathy Lechmaier just reminded all the club members to gather their
concerns, suggestions and compliments for the Listening Session on
M arch 11th.
Nicole made a motion to adjourn the meeting until March 17th. Peter
Schwartz seconds the motion. Motion carried.
Meeting ended at 12:56 p.m.
