GENEALOGY
My father has done some research on family connections, and I can follow two branches of my family back to
the 15th century and a couple of other branches back to the 16 th and the 17th centuries. Further information can
be given by applying to Mr. Jarle Vingsand, J. Hegstads v. 10, N-7089 HEIMDAL, telephone +46/ 72 58 19 51.
My nearest of kin are, from my great-great grandparents onward:
1. Male branch, mostly from Osen in the county of Sør-Trøndelag:
A. Jakob Johnsson Vingsand, 1836-1906, fisherman and farmer, and his wife Anne Martha Jonasdtr. born
Halvik, 1842-1929. Jakob’s family can be followed back to 1628, Anne’s family back to 1660, all
were fishermen and farmers.
B. Johan Kristian Jakobson Vingsand, 1872-1959, sub.officer (fanejunker), fisherman and farmer, and his wife
Ingeborg Persdtr. born Strand, 1871-1952, housewife and manager of a telegraph station.
Her parents were farmer Per Henriksson Strand, 1836-1920, and his wife Ane Sivertsdtr. born Osen,
1839-1922. Per’s family can be followed back to 1484 (the noble family of von Aphelen in Westfalen,
Germany). Ane’s family can be followed from the 1500s (the families of Hals in Jylland, Denmark, and
Bruse in Leksvik and Meldal, Sør-Trøndelag, and Lossius in Göttingen, Germany, and Røros, Norway),
clergymen, bailiffs, mining directors and police and military officers, from the 1700s mostly farmers.

Maria Larsdtr. born Eide in Hemne, 1899-1987.

a telegraph station.

Larsdtr. 1826-1882, born Brødreskift. Even had a ”fembøring” – a fisherboat for 5 fishermen, and
participated in the Lofoten fisheries each winter. Karen’s family can be followed back to farmer Rolf
Hallvardsson Lynge, who in 1574 was beheaded for treason – because he as a chosen deputy for the
farmers in the valley of Gauldal had gone to the king with their complaints of the king’s bailiff, Ludvig
Munk. Another of her ancestors was the well known clergyman Jon Jonsson of Orkdal, ”Big Jon”.
B. Elias Haagensson Gafseth, born 1863-1926, sub. officer and farmer at Gimse and Øy in Melhus, and his
second wife, Karen Dortea Monsdtr., 1872-1932, born at Øy. His first wife was Ingeborg
