2005 Ulysses – Sheridan Vineyard (RP 92)
Magnum bottle. Gorgeous, dense, purple-red, classic Sheridan
Vineyard aromas and flavors: loganberry and cassis notes on
the nose wrapped in a subtle veil of cabin smoke.
The familiar silky Sheridan texture shows a more muscular
side here reflecting this quality of the '05 vintage in general.
The flavors are balanced between the wonderful dark fruit:
black cherry, plum, cassis and the meaty, toasty and leather
notes. This is destined for a very long life in the cellar
(20-30 years) for anyone with the patience.

1991 Late Harvest
Six 3.75ml bottles Topaz, Napa Valley Late Harvest.
Winemaker Jeff Sowells. This truly unique, handcrafted wine
combines the classic winemaking methods of French Sau-
ternes with carefully selected Napa Valley grapes. Harvested
October 11 and 13, 1989, the juice was fermented and aged
16 months in French and American oak barrels and bottled
in February 1991. Ripe, rich and sweet, with lots of fig, herb
and honey aromas and flavors that extend into a long and
concentrated finish. A blend of 60%Sauvignon Blanc
and 40% Semillon.

The finish is a sunset burst of nuanced tones of espresso,

Two bottles. The saturated purple 2007 Syrah Cailloux
Vineyard contains 4% Viognier in the blend. It displays a

and bacon. Layered, plush, and super-rich, this full-bodied,
pleasure-bent effort has exceptional length. Difficult to resist
now, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years.

2003 Pinot Noir (RP 89)
The Estate Pinot Noir has concentrated aromas of ripe black
cherries and plums, with a touch of coffee, spice, cocoa and
earthiness. The color is deep saturated ruby. Sharply focused
on the palate, it offers an elegant and graceful silky texture
with mouthwatering fullness and layers of blackberries and
dried dark fruits. The wine reveals good structure and depth
in character, minerals and brilliant acidity that integrates the
fine-grained tannins for a lengthy and polished finish.

1997 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (RP 88)
Three bottles. Silver Oak has long been a staple on steakhouse
wine lists. Ruby-red, with a hint of development at the rim,
this wine has classic California cabernet aromas of
blackcurrant, tar and menthol. Firm acids are a bit tart but
not quite spiky. Finishes firmly tannic, with a faint greenness
and a note of coconutty sweet oak.

This 100% varietal Merlot is a blend of three top Red
Mountain vineyards: Klipsun, Ciel du Cheval and old vine
Kiona. It really demonstrates the power of these Red
Mountain sites; it’s a well-made, muscular wine that extends
itself through the midpalate into a textural and complex
finish. Layers of graphite and smoke, black olive and coffee
are wrapped in dark berry fruit.

2003, 2004, 2005 – La Côte Rousse Syrah (RP 90, 93, 91)
2003: Profound blackberry, black cherry aromas, pure and
penetrating. Syrah emerges as a roasted meat, violet, spice
concerto that carries across to the flavor. Despite classic Red
Mountain tannin levels everything is in remarkable harmony,
with a fleshy, plump richness balanced by a notable spine of
structure. With its concentration, verve and structure this one
should do well in the cellar for many years.
2004: Packed with dense, ripe flavors and abundant tannin
while retaining a textural sweetness. La Côte Rousse speaks
the language of the appellation, with a power, structure and
longevity that differentiates it from the La Serenne, grown
only 25 miles away. The 2004 has more "French" character
than previous vintages: smoke, minerals and gaminess, a
wonderful expression of the variety. This is even more cellar
worthy than La Serenne, with a solid decade ahead of it.
2005: Blackberry, blueberry and sweet cherry are the founda-
tion while roasted meat, smoke and spice add to the overall
complexity. It’s ultra lush and rich, but still retains its Red
Mountain structure: dense and sinewy. This wine has the
stuffing for long term aging. If you choose to open it now
please decant and watch it develop; as with La Serenne it,
too, is the longest lived of the Côte Rousse Syrahs we’ve
made.

reveals excellent approachability and a lush texture. Robert

have tasted. Impressively dark ruby/purple-colored, the nose

2007 Wild Eyes Red Mountain, 750ml
The wine begins with aromas of Italian plums, figs,
currants, violets and cherry blossoms. This transitions into red
meat, roasted marrowbones, leather, wet tobacco and flint.
Lying beneath are aromas of spice, clove and white pepper.
The palate is rich and layered with hints of mocha and vanilla
from the new French oak. This is wrapped in fine tannins
and balanced by integrated acid.
