Dear Parents and Guardians,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
As a result of the generosity of our MBSCS families and staff, our school collected 516 canned and
boxed food items to be distributed to the Delaware Food Bank and the Casa San Francisco ministry.
We are most thankful that our children responded so well without the enticement of a NUT Day or
some other “payback.”

MBS CHOIR TO PERFORM
The MBS choir will be singing at the Ocean Pines Tree Lighting Celebration TOMORROW, Friday,
December 2nd. The event takes place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the White Horse Park Pavilion at 239
Ocean Parkway. Choir will sing 3 Christmas songs. After the tree lighting, all are invited for some
goodies. Let’s do our best to bring the true meaning of Christmas to our local community. Choir
members are to dress in their school uniform.

TIME TO BRAINSTORM
Bring your creative ideas for fundraising to the Home School Association General Meeting on
Monday, December 5, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria. All parents and ideas are welcome
and encouraged. REPORT CARDS will be distributed early to attendees at the conclusion of the
meeting. Those parents who do not attend will receive report cards in the Thursday folder.

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE AND INDIVIDUAL CONFESSIONS
On Tuesday, December 6 our school will gather for our annual Advent Penance Prayer Service at 1:00
p.m. We are fortunate that our Pastors will be able to join us and lead us in our Prayers of
Reconciliation. Following the Prayer Service, students in grades 3-8 will have an opportunity to make
an individual confession through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Only those Catholic children who
have made their First Reconciliation and who indicate a desire to receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation will do so. We want to establish in our children the understanding that a person should
only enter into a Sacrament under his/her own desire to participate and receive the Sacrament.

AFTER CARE FOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
Children who ride the bus to school will be able to remain at MBSCS after school on December 15 and
be picked-up by their parents at 5:45 p.m. prior to the Christmas Program. A sign-up sheet for this
service is included in this week’s folder. Details are provided on the sign-up form. ALL SIGN-UPS
MUST BE RETURNED BY DECEMBER 8TH. WE REGRET THAT WE WILL NOT BE
ABLE TO ACCEPT SIGN-UPS AFTER THAT DATE.
POWERSCHOOL PARENT ACCESS
Due to the closing of grades for the 1st trimester, Parent Access for Power School will be turned off on
November 30th and reopened December 7th. Parent Email Notification will be turned off this afternoon
for all schools. Since this is a District setting, it has to be turned on and off at District. A notice was
also placed on the Parent Portal Sign-on Page. It will be resume the week of December 5.

CRAZY HAT DAY RESULTS
Thank you to everyone who participated in Crazy Hat Day and made it a great success. And
congratulations to the winner, 4th grader Sarah Rodler, for her wonderful Christmas tree hat.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM REMINDER
Just a reminder that our Christmas Program is Thursday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. Please put this
important date on your calendar! If for some reason your child cannot attend, Mrs. Pugner needs to
know immediately as the parts are being assigned. Please contact her at bpugner@mbscs.org. Thank
you!

NATIVITY RAFFLE
Last week, tickets were sent home for this beautiful, ceramic, hand-painted nativity scene and
handcrafted wooden manger so everyone will have the opportunity to win this work of art. The winner
will be chosen at the MBS Christmas Program on Thursday, December 15th. Each ticket is $1.00. The
entire sheet can be purchased for $10.00. It is not necessary to cut the sheets/tickets. Just fill in the
information on each of the tickets you wish to purchase and return the entire uncut sheet to the office
by December 13th with cash or check (made out to MBS). Please feel free to sell as many tickets as you
wish to friends, family, and neighbors. This manger would make a beautiful gift also. Be sure to stop in
the office and admire the craftsmanship of this piece. We are so appreciative of the continued
generosity of the MBS community.

COUNSELING CORNER
For the next 2 weeks all classes will work on Role Plays. We will pretend to have bullying situations.
We will practice using our tools and strategies we discussed during the last few weeks. We will focus
on what to do if we are the victim or bystander of bullying. The PreK focus is “Hands are for helping
not hurting.”

Live Long Fitness, the promoter of the event, will graciously donate proceeds from the event to MOST
BLESSED SACRAMENT! We want everyone to run, walk or just come out and cheer to show our

Kim Allison at kallison@mbscs.org. Plan now to come and support our school and earn FIP hours.
Registration forms for each race are available in the school office. For further information about
sponsorship or either race please call Chris Adkins at 410-208-1600.

FIP OPPORTUNITIES
The MBS Basketball teams are in need of parents who would like to run the clock and scoreboard
during home games this season. This is a great opportunity to easily earn up to 12 FIP hours for the
school year. There is minimal training involved and is a great way to be involved in our athletics
program. If you are interested, please contact Coach Adkins at cadkin@mbscs.org.

BOX TOPS AND CAMBELL SOUP LABELS
Please continue to send your clipped Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels in to our school. Please
encourage your family members and neighbors to collect for us too! Every Box Top and Campbell
Soup Label helps! Thank you.

events! The rules will be the same as last year and will be forwarded to you via e mail.
Also, please continue working with your sons on his achievements. Earning his next rank is very
important to his scouting experience. Keep the momentum going through the holidays!
