1. Purpose



This method of statement covers the in-site installations of Automatic Transfer Switch

as defined in the General Specification.







2. Scope of Work



This procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that the Automatic

Transfer Switch installations, on-site assembly, final connection and workmanship are

acceptable, correct, safe and conforms the Contract Documents and Specification.







3. Responsible Personnel on Site



3.1. Construction Manager

3.2. Electrical Field Engineers

3.3. Safety Officer

3.4. QA/QC Engineer

3.5. Electrical Supervisors







4. Storage



4.1 Unload the Automatic Transfer Switch panels to the designated unloading area. Use fork

lift or mobile crane to unload self standing panels.



4.2 Ensure that the Panels are stored in dry and clean locations.



4.3 Make sure that the storage area is safe.







5. Pre-Installation



5.1 All materials and documentation relevant to this particular section of works shall be

checked prior to installation.



5.2 Ensure that the location wherein the panels were installed are accessible, clean and

free of debris and foreign materials and suitable for installations.

6. Installation



6.1 Check the cable trenches and supports are painted and ready for permanent installation

of the said equipment.



6.2 Move the panels from the storage area to their designated room. Fully crated panels

shipped on a timber sub-base shall be lifted under the sub-base.



6.3 When moving the fully crated panels from the storage area to the electrical room using

fork lifts, the mast must be as close as possible to the face of the crate and forks must

be fully projected under the crate. Lift the fully crated switchgear squarely.



6.4 Uncrate, unpack and remove the panel from its timber base. Care must be taken to

protect the panels from unnecessary scratches or bents on the panels.



6.5 Move in the panel using steel pipe rollers to its final location. Care must be taken to

ensure that the panel does not over balanced while being moved to its final locations.



6.6 Align the panels horizontally and vertically.



6.7 Secure the panel assembly and ensure that it is fixed properly on its base.



6.8 Remove all unused bolts, nuts, washers and clean the panel. Panel side covers and

doors shall be put back. Ensuring that it is properly tightened.



6.9 Conduct insulation resistance test on the switchgear to ensure that all joints are properly

insulated.



6.11 Raise Request for Inspection for switchgear installation.



6.12 After all the testing has been successfully sign-off and accepted by the Consultant,

cable dressing and termination will commence.

7.2 Approved Material Submittals for ATS

7.3 Approved QA/QC Installation and Test Plan

7.4 Factory Test Certificates of the said equipments

7.5 Operation and Maintenance Manuals for ATS

7.6 Approved Material Inspection Report

7.7 Approved Safety Plan

8. Safety



8.1 All safety precautions shall be followed as per approved safety plan & procedure.

Ensure all involved persons are aware of the same.



8.2 Ensure that tradesman will keep their working places clean, tidy and free from

rubbish.
