Calculating Concentration
The concentration of a solution is the quantity of solute in a certain volume of
solution. The more solute dissolved, the greater the concentration.
Concentration = Mass of solute in grams
100mL of solution
EXAMPLE: calculate the concentration of a solution made by mixing 4.5g of
baking soda in enough water to make 50mL of solution.
Saturated solution:
Unsaturated solution:
Solubility:
Solubility = Maximum mass of solute that will dissolve, in grams
100mL solvent at a certain temperature
