The knowledge I received was worth the daily commute from Lincoln where I lived during the duration of the program. All that I learned in the program made me feel comfortable on the job. I learned faster in a hands-on environment, and my employer recognized this as a benefit for the hospital. I was hired by the hospital where I had my clinical experience. The education I received from the program at SCC gave me the confidence to be tested for national certification in my field, which I passed before I graduated!” Deborah Wadington, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Nebraska Heart Hospital, Lincoln, Neb. 2008 Pharmacy Technician Graduate *Community College Week, a publication about and for community college educators and trustees, annually ranks the Top 100 Associate Degree Producers across the nation. These rankings are for data collected during the 2008-2009 academic year. “After high school, I wanted a college that was smaller and close to home. Choosing Southeast Community College to complete my first two years was a great decision. I loved SCC and felt like the professors and students were very welcoming and always there to help. I recently graduated with my Associate of Arts degree and now attend Doane College in Crete, Neb. I knew after SCC that I wanted to continue my education, and Doane, in my opinion, was a great choice.” Tiffany Sasse 2008 Academic Transfer Graduate 2 The College is comprised of three campuses and more than 20 off-campus sites in the 15 counties of southeast Nebraska. Consult your advisor for assistance. “I previously attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; then I decided to attend Southeast Community College to pursue a degree in Welding Technology and gain some hands-on experience. I received exceptional welding and fabrication skills that allowed me to be a step ahead of the workforce. I moved to California and interviewed with Jesse James, CEO of West Coast Choppers. I was offered the job assisting with building custom motorcycles and was the first nonCalifornian hired. They were totally impressed with the skills and certifications I brought to the job, and even with recent layoffs, I have continued to remain employed because of the skills I received from SCC. West Coast Choppers is the home of “Monster Garage” from the Discovery Channel, and a series premiered in February 2009 on Spike TV called ‘Jesse James is a Dead Man.’ I never anticipated that my career path would enable me to work with Jesse James and the best of the best. Thanks SCC!” Ben Moran Custom Welder/Fabricator West Coast Choppers, Long Beach, Calif. 2007 Welding Technology Graduate R.S.V.P. for a PROGRAM DISCOVERY DAY! This is a day for high school juniors and seniors and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to reserve their spot to shadow a specific Program of Study. ON CAMPUS Various organizations and clubs at SCC organize and sponsor social and cultural events such as dances, picnics, speakers and concerts during the school year. The Student Centers offer a place for students to meet before, between and after classes to relax, study and socialize or to participate in scheduled activities. SCC offers choices for leadership, friends and fun! The College provides on-campus housing at the Beatrice and Milford campuses. Beatrice Campus offers traditional housing and newer apartment-style housing for single men and women. There also is a Parents of All Ages Family Housing complex located off campus. Milford Campus offers traditional housing with a meal plan, and apartment housing for women, and/or married and/or singleparent students and their families. Lincoln Campus does not offer student housing. There are many apartments located nearby or within minutes of the campus. SCC students may inquire with the Admissions Office for a list of other students looking for roommates in the Lincoln area. A cafeteria is available for students and faculty. 7 FINANCIAL AID Even though SCC is the most affordable college in Nebraska, college is still a large investment! SCC has many financial aid options available for students. APPLY EARLY and check with the SCC Financial Aid Office about deadlines.
