					This is a checklist that can be used to provide a routine maintenance inspection on a
specific piece of property. The checklist covers exterior property areas, exterior
structures, interior structures, light and ventilation, plumbing systems and fixtures,
drainage and storm systems, electrical facilities and equipment, fire protection systems,
and much more. This document is useful for property managers or property owners to
help conduct a routine inspection of the property to maintain property values.

    I. Exterior Property Areas
           Exterior property areas should be clean, safe, and sanitary.
           Drainage should be properly maintained.
           Sidewalks and driveways should be well maintained and free from obstructions.
           Defaced surfaces should be restored properly.
           Exhaust vents should not discharge directly into adjacent public/private property.

    II. Exterior Structures
            All should be structurally sound, well maintained, and sanitary.
            Exterior surfaces should be painted or covered with protective treatment.
            Foundation walls should be free from cracks and openings.
            Exterior walls should be well maintained and remain weatherproof.
            Roofs and drainage should be clog-free and free from defects.
            Chimneys and towers should be maintained structurally sound.

             Handrails and guards should be fastened firmly.
             Windows and doorframes should be clean and free from unnecessary
              obstructions.
             Swinging doors should be self-closing and in good working condition.
             Doors should be well maintained and free from obstructions.

             Basement hatchways should be properly maintained.
             Basement windows can be opened and should be protected against the entry of
              rodents.
             Doors, windows, and hatchways should be provided with proper locks.

    III. Interior Structures
              Structural members should be structurally sound.
              Interior surfaces should be clean and free from defects.
              Stairs and walking surfaces should be free from obstructions and be well
                 maintained.
              Handrails should be securely fastened.
              Interior doors should be secure and be able to open and close properly.

    IV. Rubbish and Garbage
            There should be no accumulated garbage.
            Covered trashcans should be used to dispose of garbage.
            Garbage should be disposed of in a sanitary manner.
