BOOSTER CLUB
Will be holding its Annual Booster Club Dinner and Auc on on November 12, 2011, at the Courthouse Athle c Club in West
Salem. This is the biggest fundraising effort for the Booster Club for the en re year. Last year’s auc on was a great success.
We had huge support from many individuals and businesses who gave generously of their me, money, and merchandise.
Without the support of people like you, we would not have been able to raise over $30,000 for athle cs at Dallas High School.
With the budget cuts that have taken place, the need is even greater this year.
There are lots of ways you can support the DHS Booster Club Auc on:
1. DHS Booster Auc on Dona on: We need great items for the auc on! Examples of dona ons include weekend getaways,
catered dinners, gi cer ficates, quilts, gi baskets, food items, any service you can provide and just about anything else you
can imagine. Remember all dona ons to the auc on are tax deduc ble! Our Tax ID # is 94‐3065346. If you have a dona on,
please contact Michelle Nelson at 503‐881‐0594 or Pa Senger at 503‐510‐5019.
2. Sponsorship: You can sponsor (host) a table and secure one of the best seats in the house the night of the Auc on. Gold
sponsorships are $500 and include a reserved table in the front row with your name on it, wine at your table, and recogni on
during the live auc on. Silver sponsorships are $300 and include a table reserved in your name near the front of the room.
Both sponsorships include eight admission and dinner ckets, recogni on of your sponsorship in the auc on book and in the
local Itemizer Observer Newspaper.
3. A end the Booster Club Auc on: You can support DHS athletes and have a fun evening of dining, entertainment, and ca‐
maraderie by purchasing ckets for the November 12 Dinner and Auc on. The silent auc on begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by
the dinner and a live oral auc on.
Tickets (include dinner!) and are $30.00 per person for Booster Club Members and $35.00 for non‐members.

DALLAS HIGH THEATER
Godspell
a musical by Stephen Schwartz
One of the biggest off‐Broadway and Broadway successes of all me, Godspell is based primarily on the Gospel According to
St. Ma hew. Godspell boasts a string of recognizable songs, led by the interna onal hit, "Day By Day." It ran for 2,124 perfor‐
mance off‐Broadway and 527 on Broadway.
As the cast of actor/clowns makes it way through "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Save The People," "Learn Your Lessons
Well," "Bless the Lord," "All For The Best," "All Good Gi s," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," we, as audience members
get to see the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life. The show also touchingly presents the story of
Jesus' last moments beginning with the Last Supper.
Godspell uses a presenta onal, comically improvisa onal style that appeals to just about everyone. Perhaps the greatest trib‐
ute to the show's popularity is the fact that its unabashedly religious subject ma er hasn't prevented it from receiving count‐
less stagings in every conceivable venue."
The play will be presented to the public on November 9‐12 at 7:00 and on November 12 at 2:00. Tickets are $5 and are avail‐
able in the main office or at the door while they last. The play will run roughly 2 hours with an intermission.
¡Bocón!
a bilingual play by Lisa Loomer
¡Bocón!, a fable filled with humor and mysticism and song, tells the story of Miguel who flees a re-
pressive military regime in Central America for Los Angeles. A natural storyteller and irrepressible
"big mouth" or bocón, Miguel loses his voice when his parents are taken and begins a metaphorical
journey north to the City of Angels. Along the way he meets up with an unusual traveling companion,
La Llorona, the legendary "Weeping Woman" of Mexican and Central American mythology. Through
their magical friendship, Miguel finds his voice and the courage to cross the border to a new life. Mi-
guel's story is relevant to immigrant children from all parts of the world … and to any child who is
learning the many meanings of finding one's own "voice." The play runs about 50 minutes with no
intermission.
The play will be presented to the public on December 9 at 7:00. Admission is free but a suggested
$3 donation will be collected at the door to benefit area food banks.
CONCERT CHOIR
Dallas High School Chamber Choir would like to invite you to their Holiday Concert!
One night only at the St. Phillips Catholic Church. 825 Mill St, Dallas.
The concert will be featuring international opera singer Rebecca Fromherz, along with the
LaCreole Middle School Choir for Young People. Come sing with us on December 16th at 7:00
pm!
Tickets are free, but are by reservation only! You can call the Dallas High School main office
(503‐623‐8336 ) to reserve your tickets after Monday November 28th!

a end. Our mee ngs for the 2011‐12 school year will be on 11/3/11, 12/1/11, 1/5/12, 2/2/12, 3/1/12, 4/5/12, 5/3/12, and

Financial Aid Night and the FAFSA
Financial Aid Night will be Thursday December 8th at 7:00 in Bollman Auditorium. Senior Parents: Don't miss this once‐a‐year workshop on
the federal financial aid form, the FAFSA. The Financial Aid Director from WOU will walk parents and students through the FAFSA process.
The FAFSA allows the student to apply for grants, scholarships and loans. It also allows a college to AWARD money to students for good
grades, athle cs, performing arts or fine arts ability.

with the college in order to award scholarships.
The FAFSA is online and can be filled out at any me. DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR W‐2 TO FILL OUT THE FAFSA. IT IS OK TO ESTIMATE
FINANCIAL INFORMATION FOR THE INITIAL FAFSA. YOU CAN CORRECT INFO LATER. Submit online a er January 1, 2012 and NOT BEFORE.

should have already made second semester schedules with their counselors.
College Applica ons for the 2012 School Year
If your senior is applying to 4‐year colleges, all applica ons should be completed by Christmas break. The majority of colleges have Janu‐
ary/February deadlines for applica ons AND for scholarships. REMEMBER: Deadlines vary school to school and even within the SAME col‐
lege, deadlines for housing, admission and scholarships can all be different. Research your prospec ve schools carefully so nothing im‐
portant is missed!

There are s ll test dates le for the 2011‐12 school year. If your student is planning on going to a 4‐year college, an ACT or SAT is required
for acceptance. There is s ll me to register for the December ACT or SAT. Approx. $49.00. Register online: For the SAT go to
www.collegeboard.com For the ACT go to www.actstudent.org

DHS automa cally sends test scores with the transcript, but many colleges require test scores be sent directly from the tes ng agency.
Students need to get online to the College Board or the ACT to request that scores be officially sent to prospec ve schools.
The Oregon Student Access Commission Scholarships
The OSAC scholarships applica on is online and available to be filled out. Do not miss this opportunity for over 400 scholarships with 1
applica on! The Ford Family Founda on Scholarship, the Oregon Opportunity Grant and hundreds more fantas c scholarships reside at
