REQUEST FOR SUMMER 2011 FINANCIAL AID
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
The application priority date for summer financial aid is April 22, 2011. Please allow a minimum of two weeks from the time of
registration for processing. Academic progress is measured after the Spring 2011 term. If you fail to meet the Financial Aid
Office academic progress standards, you may not be eligible to receive financial aid for the Summer 2011 unless you submit a
Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form before June 15, 2011. The form is available at www.finaid.wvu.edu.
Summer Session applicants must have the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. The deadline
for filing the 2010-2011 FAFSA is June 30, 2011. The FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . If you make
adjustments to your hours or type of aid requested, adjustments will not be processed until registration can be confirmed.
NOTE: You will not be able to delay Summer 2011 payment based on anticipated Fall 2011 financial aid.
2. SESSION DATES
Summer budgets are based on actual dates of attendance. Periods of non attendance will not be covered by financial aid. If you
apply for financial aid or register for classes after May 01, 2011, you will be responsible for paying tuition and fees. Financial aid
may subsequently be awarded if eligibility is established.
3. AVAILABLE AID
a. Part-time Federal Work-Study is not available for the Summer 2011 term.
b. Federal Pell Grant awards may be available for eligible students during the summer. The amount is based on the number of
hours for which you are enrolled on the last day of add/drop. NOTE: Potential Pell eligible undergraduates should have
submitted the FAFSA for both the 2010-2011 aid year and the 2011-2012 aid year for an accurate Summer Pell award.
c. Federal Direct Parent Loans (PLUS) are available to parents of dependent students. If a parent would like to be considered for
this loan, indicate that on the Request for Summer 2011 Financial Aid and complete a PLUS application available at
www.finaid.wvu.edu.
d. Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans are available to Graduate students. If you would like to be considered for this loan,
indicate that on the Request for Summer 2011 Financial Aid and complete a Graduate PLUS application available at
www.finaid.wvu.edu.
e. Federal Direct Loan awards are based on the number of credit hours of enrollment, grade level, and remaining loan eligibility
from the 2010-2011 Academic Year. Check STAR to see what you have used and compare with the annual eligibility chart
below.

4. TRANSIENT STUDENTS/STUDY ABROAD
Failure to provide complete information on the Summer application will result in a delay in processing. Note that you are
responsible for paying the other school's charges according to that school's due date. If you are a PSC student taking part or all
of your summer credit at another college, you must contact the PSC Financial Aid Office. A copy of your Transient Agreement
from your academic advisor and a signed Consortium Agreement from the other school are required before your aid will be
processed and released. If you are a student from another college taking transient hours at PSC, you must contact your home
school to apply for financial aid for the Summer 2011 term.
5. NATIONAL GUARD BENEFITS
Using National Guard benefits will result in a reduction of eligibility for Financial Aid. If you are receiving National Guard
payments for tuition, please indicate that on the Request for Summer 2011 Financial Aid.
6. NON DEGREE STUDENTS
If your Academic Status is Non Degree Undergraduate or Non Degree Graduate, you must have the Application for Federal
Financial Aid for Non Degree Students completed and approved by your Academic Advisor. The form is available in our office or
online at www.finaid.wvu.edu.
