TomTom VIA 1505TM 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic &
Maps
This review is from: Through TomTom 1505TM 5-inch Portable GPS Navigator
with Lifetime Traffic and Maps (Electronics)
I just received my TomTom through 1505TM yesterday and just got off the
phone with customer service (easily accessible and very friendly and
helpful) this is what I wanted to know, before this, which is still in
beta And is not supported by many new TomTom infrastructure. For example,
from today (April 5, 2011), you will not find on most menus in TomTom
page or as an option in the phone menu when calling customer service.
More seriously, can not connect to TomTom HOME, which is the software
that allows you to make things a Tomtom offer fun as downloading voice or
other devices in the device. I can not wait to customize my GPS with
different voices and I'm sad, I can not do that. I'm sure this year
Tomtom send updates to THROUGH GPSE eventually allowed to join the party,
but for now there is very little support for this product. I think it's a
little strange to release a beta version that has fewer features than its
predecessor models without a clear warning to potential buyers, so I'm
writing this review today. I can not buy a bag just big enough to answer
my VIA - that's a different way than previous models, because it sticks
in my car with a different system. I said it's a better system, but this
is my first GPS I do not know.
Hopefully at the end of the year (as I said, I'm writing this April 5,
2011) this review will be obsolete, but at this point, if you buy the GPS
now, you will not get a camera fully compatible. I'm happy to have been
attracted to the online Beta test new TomTom product, this is my first
GPS and I paid $ 200 for her, wanting a great experience to the right of
the box. As it is, I'm feeling a little sad the whole thing, and even
customer service boutique that does not disappear.
The thing is, it's a very nice piece of engineering. It's super easy to
setup and use. It works in a way fundamentally different from previous
drums, and can be used while connected to your computer. A friend of mine
has a Tomtom before and I know she is frustrated by not having access to
TomTom when connected to your computer so that it is an advantage. I'm
not complaining about the device itself is very cool. I am told that this
model is the future of Tomtom, and that over time will do everything the
other models, and even more, but the fact is that now, now, April 5,
2011.
So. Early adopters and beta testers involved: Rejoice! This is
undoubtedly the Tomtom for you. Buy one and have fun. But those of you
who, like me, I just want to get where you're going with a bit of fun
doing, and fewer complications, might want to have something more.
Updated June 17, 2011: After using the camera for a few months, I still
feel that those looking for a GPS without drama should go buy something
else. Through TomTom series is still a rich source of drama - not
compatible with TomTom HOME, the software and MyTomTom * is * compatible
with is just horrible and very frustrating. I've had this for months and
tonight was the first time I managed to update and it took me two hours
and many nailbiting (At one point he managed to remove for cleaning all
the cards and I had to completely reinstall everything. Fun.) Moreover,
there appears to have finally installed the additional votes that I
bought for her the day that I have, (before I knew there was no support
at this time adding additional voices) so it will be interesting to see
how this point. And the TomTom site does now recognize the existence of
the use of models, but does not offer much for them. Progress is being
made by TomTom to bring the VIA in the wider community of TomTom
products, but this is still a great device beta and still wish I had
bought a different system of GPS.
