Mesopotamia and Egypt Travel Brochure
Overview: Come to Mesopotamia and Egypt! Two great civilizations with rich history and culture! Your job is
to create a travel brochure designed to explain 5 different aspects of Mesopotamian and Egyptian society. First you
will choose which ancient civilization you want to research (Mesopotamia or Egypt). Once you have chosen you
will use the websites listed on the back of the paper to research the history and culture of that civilization and create
a 7 page travel brochure telling us all about the people of these great societies.
The pages will include:
1. A Title/Cover Page: Design an attractive Title Page that shows classic images of your civilization. You
will also need your name on the title/cover page.
2. A Geography Page: This page should include a written description of the most significant geographic
features of your society and how the people used and adapted to their natural surroundings. You will also
want to include pictures of the geographic features and the people using their surroundings to their
advantage (if possible).
3. A Religion Page: This page will outline the
religious beliefs of your society. Explain chief gods
and goddesses, as well as any rituals or ceremonies.
What did they believe about the afterlife? Also,
include images of the gods and goddesses (you can
pick and choose) and any artifacts that might relate to
the religion of your society.
4. A Government Page: This page will discuss the
government of your society. You will want to discuss
the role of the kings or Pharaohs, as well as, the
political accomplishments of your rulers. Find images
of great leaders and use them to accent this page.
5. A Life and Culture Page: Examine the lives of the
people who lived in your society. What kind of jobs did they have, what were the roles of men and women,
what was school like, and describe their art and writing? This page can be a mixed highlight reel of
different aspects of Egyptian or Mesopotamian life. Use images to help enhanced the readers
understanding of these great cultures (you may need more than 1 page for this topic. It is O.K. to use 2
pages).
6. A Contributions/Legacy Page: This page should highlight the key contributions of your society. They
can include scientific and mathematical discoveries, tools and inventions, and great architectural
achievements. Try and make connections between past and present by showing how some of the
achievements or your society can still be seen in our culture today. Use images to support your
information.
7. A Conclusion Page: Use this page to explain why someone would want to visit Egypt or Mesopotamia.
Think of a travel brochure and how they would include descriptions of the unique aspects of each culture.
Write a paragraph (approximately 5 to 6 sentences) to entice the reader to visit your land!
