TANGIPAHOA PARISH GOVERNMENT RECEIVES FUNDING TO DEVELOP COMMUNITY MASTER PLAN USDA Rural Development Presents $50,000 Grant AMITE, October 31, 2006 – USDA Rural Development awarded a $50,000 Rural Business Opportunity Grant to the Tangipahoa Parish Government today in Amite. USDA Rural Development representatives Sean Le Blanc and Judy Meche presented the grant funds to Tangipahoa Parish President Gordon Burgess. The grant funds will be used to develop a community master plan for the unincorporated areas of Tangipahoa Parish. The plan will be used by parish leaders to help guide sustainable economic growth and quality of life improvements. “Because of the hurricanes of 2005, Tangipahoa Parish is experiencing tremendous growth and development,” said Clyde C. Holloway, State Director for USDA Rural Development. “The community master plan will serve as a tool to bring focus to effective ways to guide this growth.” USDA Rural Development Rural Business Opportunity Grants promote sustainable economic development in rural communities by funding economic planning, technical assistance for rural businesses, or training for rural entrepreneurs or economic development officials. USDA Rural Development provides a full range of rural development credit services in rural Louisiana.
