SUBJECT: School Bus Evacuation Drill for the 2011-2012 Year

The Florida Board of Education Rule 6A-3.0171 requires all school Principals or their designee to conduct school bus emergency
evacuation drills on each school bus that serves their school during the first six (6) weeks of each semester, and to maintain
documentation of this activity. In addition, principals are to provide all transported students instructions in safe practices on and off
the bus during the first six (6) weeks of the first semester of the school year. The LCS Transportation Department is providing the
attached power point 2011-2012 School Bus Evacuation Information to assist Principals with this process. For information on bus
routes that serve your school, please refer to the Bus Routes that are on the Transportation Web page. If you have questions or need
additional assistance with routes serving your school, please contact the LCS Transportation Routing Department: (850) 488-2636.
The first semester evacuation drills should be conducted and completed by September 30, 2011. The second semester evacuation
drills should be conducted by February 3, 2012. Submit the First School Bus Evacuation Report to LCS Transportation Department
to the attention of Patricia Thompson, by the close of the business day on October 14, 2011, and second semester report by the close
of the business day on February 17, 2011. The report may be faxed to (850) 922-4918, or emailed to thompsonp@leonschools.net or
sent via the county mail to the Transportation Department.
The two School Bus Evacuation Drill Report Forms and School Level Certification Forms which you will need to use to record your
information are on the Transportation Department Web page.
