As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 1,313 people
and 453 households residing in the neighborhood. The
population density was 5,309/mi². The racial makeup of
the neighborhood was 38.0% White, 55.0% African Amer-
ican, 0% Native American, 0% Asian, 4.0% from other
races, and 2.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Lati-
no of any race were about 15.0% of the population.
There were 453 households out of which 39% had
children under the age of 18 living with them, 29% were
married couples living together, 33% had a female house-
holder with no husband present, and 6% were non-fami-
lies. 24% of all households were made up of individuals.
In the neighborhood the population was spread out
with 37% under the age of 18, 20% from 18 to 34, 22% from
35 to 49, 13% from 50 to 64, and 7% who were 65 years of
Grant Park age or older. For every 100 females there were 76.3 males.
