RSS Feed Tutorial
What is an RSS Feed?
Signing up for a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed allows you to receive automatic updates from
TRSGA.com. The RSS feed program provides links directly to the information important to you. For
example, subscribing guarantees you immediate notification when breaking news, legislation,
publications, and other important information is available on TRSGA.com.
Subscribing to a RSS Feed
To add a TRSGA.com RSS feed, click on the RSS feed you would like to receive. You may choose from
the Active Members, Retirees, or Employers feeds.
Then, if you are using Windows Internet Explorer, click on the Subscribe to this Feed link.
Select a folder where you would like to create the feed.
Click Subscribe.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox, this process is very similar.
First, select how you would like to subscribe to the feed. We recommend subscribing to the TRS
feeds using the Live Bookmarks.
Click Subscribe Now.
Select a folder where you would like to create the feed. We recommend the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Then click Subscribe.
Are There Other Ways to Subscribe?
Yes, there are many different RSS reading programs available, and most are free. Also called RSS
feed aggregators, RSS readers collect RSS files from websites with feeds you have subscribed to.
For example, you may subscribe to the Active Members feed at TRSGA.com along with the feed from
your favorite online newspaper, and it will display the information in a single location, allowing you
to browse in a minute what would have taken you half an hour or more to accomplish.
If you do not like the browser-based RSS readers we have recommended above, feel free to explore
other types of RSS readers such as the ones below:
Stand-Alone RSS Reader: Stand-alone RSS readers offer organizational capabilities, and
you can read your feeds while disconnected from the Internet.
Microsoft Office Outlook Add-Ins: If you use Office Outlook and want to keep all your e-
mail and TRSGA news in a single location, an Office Outlook add-in may be for you.
