The Albany Plan was used to:

Early stages of the war
Early stages went badly for the British.

and Native Americans.
George Washington will assume command of the Army in 1755.
William Pitt in 1757 directed the war.
1. forced colonists to join the army.

1758 – British reclaimed major forts along the
Great Lake Regions.
1759 – British besieged Quebec.
1760 – French surrendered.
Treaty of Paris (1763) –
1. Britain gained all French land east of the
Miss. River and the Great Lake Region.
2. Spain gave up control of FL to the British.
Spain will receive Louisiana from the French.
Effects of the War
Many skilled workers profited from the army.
Southern colonies benefited from gaining FL – could
not serve as a haven for escaped slaves.
Colonists were forced to unite.
Cost of war was huge for the British – make
colonists pay for the war debt.
Stricter laws towards the colonists will be enforced.
Native Americans lost the lands no matter what side
Pontiac (Ottawa Chief) – At first welcomed the
1. got rid of the French.
Then realized the British was not as friendly as
1762 – allied with Upper Midwest tribes
- each group would take over the nearest British fort.
Expected help from the French – this did not
