ROTARY CLUB OF COLUMBUS PARTNERS WITH THE
ARNOLD SPORTS FESTIVAL TO CREATE NEW
           COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Columbus, Ohio ---G. Robert “Bob” Bowers, past President of the Rotary Club of
Columbus, and current Scholarship Committee Chair, announced today the establishment
of ten $1,000 college scholarships in partnership with The Arnold Sports Festival. The
Festival is the largest multi-sports festival in the nation and welcomes 150,000 visitors
and 17,000 competitors annually. The scholarships will be awarded to youth competitors
by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and a Columbus Rotarian as a part of the
Weekend’s festivities.

“The Columbus Rotary Scholarship Committee is pleased to partner with the Arnold
Sports Festival to create new scholarships each year,” said Bob Bowers. “We concur that
this is an opportunity to further the Columbus Rotary mission to provide exemplary
leadership through commitments to youth, and to effect positive and enduring change in
the lives of others.” Bowers stated, “We look forward to working with the youth
awardees and to encourage their future participation as Rotarians in Columbus and other
communities.”

Jim Lorimer, Producer of the Arnold Sports Festival, commented, “Governor
Schwarzenegger and I originally conceived of The Arnold Sports Festival as an
opportunity to celebrate excellence through sports performance. We value our partnership
with the Columbus Rotary, and our joint commitment to youth demonstrated through
these important scholarships.”

Kris Wilson, Executive Director of Columbus Rotary added, “Columbus Rotary members
are devoted to being actively involved in a broad array of service projects. We believe we
present a unique advantage to help secure the educational futures of nine youngsters and
to instill the critical Rotary message of a lifetime of community, and vocational service.”

The Rotary Club of Columbus was founded in 1912 as the 38th Rotary International Club.
The Club boasts 500 members committed to effecting positive and enduring change in
the lives of others by conducting service programs, fostering goodwill and peace around
the world, and creating opportunities for fellowship and new friendships.
