Improving Laptop Speed
October 23, 2003
Why should you listen?
We all own laptops – RPI mandates it!
I’ll be talking in layman’s terms that everyone
We’ll be examining exactly why a computer will
slow down over time and discuss solutions
Why do computers slow down?
Simple answer – we’ve run out of “fast” memory!
Bottom line – our laptops will greatly slow down
if we run out of available main memory (RAM)
Adding additional main memory (RAM) will
significantly increase the speed of your laptop
Will cost approximately $50-$70 for 256MB
depending on the model of your laptop
Many software applications exist which will free
available space in main memory
Be sure any software you pick up is legitimate.
