This report is authored by John Genovese, public speaker and founder of Rapport Key and How2Talk2.com. He is a young entrepreneur, a successful consultant, and conversation wizard. He is an expert when it comes to soft-skills development and this, when coupled with his desire to help others succeed, has led to the making of numerous selfdevelopment products and programs of the highest class. John strongly believes in the power of good communication skills. He has seen one too many people suffer – both on personal grounds and in business – simply because they lack the knowledge of effective communication. Sadly, even those who have perfect mastery over linguistics are not spared – while a good grasp of language is necessary, it is frequently insufficient in achieving perfect communication. With many years of training experience behind him, John has put together this free report that chronicles the fundamentals of achieving your goals through excellent communication.

What you now hold in your hands is just a snapshot of extensive research and testing that I’ve done with many different types of people from big-time businesses to small-time individuals just looking to meet that fateful someone. Up until now, this information has been closely held and only available to select paying customers. This is why I strongly suggest that you print this guide out right now and read it immediately. Then hang it in your workspace because there is a very good idea inside and many people have made a fortune once they grasped the concepts you are about to receive for free. If you’re someone who knows what they want but hasn’t been able to achieve EVERYTHING you desire yet then keep reading because I am going to outline for you the basic phenomena behind why people don’t get what they want. Many of these people have followed my advice, followed my systems, and followed the same results as my other successful clients before them. I have developed my early system about 7 years ago and have been refining it ever since. It wasn’t until this year that I decided to take my system to the Internet and share it with you.

So a little bit about me… at the age of 15 I started learning the ins and outs of the conversation game on a private golf course in my home town. Ah - don’t think I was playing golf at 15 with the sun in my hair and light breeze in my face without a care in the world. Just the opposite. I was 15 years old and caddying for golfers. I grew up middle class with a strong work ethic and eventually realized that hard work along with saying the right things was how I was going to be holding the club and not the bag. It was on that golf course where I learned how to communicate with people. I learned the value of “what you say = what you get.” As a caddie, I was smack in the middle of multi-million dollar business deals over and over again and each time I learned more about how to attain success through conversations. How were these golfers able to play golf in the middle of the day on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon while everyone else I knew, including myself, was working? Because they knew how to talk to people the right way to get what they wanted. And it’s these secrets that I’ve had the fortunate chance to pick up on and make my own. And it’s these secrets that I want to share with you in this guide. Fast forward to about three years ago when I took a job as a VIP Host at one of the hottest nightclubs on the east coast. While hosting, I leveraged my experience and communication intellect to connect with some of the highest-rollers and most popular celebrities. This further fine tuned and enforced my conversation skills repertoire.

5

And you know what I’ve realized about the golfers, high-rollers, and celebrities through holding both positions… that the more money you have the less you tip. ☺ No, what I’ve realized is that the reason they are all successful is because of the trait they share. They know how to talk to people the right way to get what they want and to get to where they want to be. More recently in the past year I have taken the knowledge and experience that I have gained and codified it through multiple websites to help you achieve EVERYTHING you want with your conversations. I currently manage three web sites, www.RapportKey.com, www.How2Talk2.com, and www.NetworkingNoteCards.com all for conversation enrichment.

Bottom line, I might not know you, your business, or your customers but I know how to grow rapport and strong everlasting relationships with people, no matter who they are. I’ve been doing this for myself for the past 7 years and for the past year or so I’ve been coaching people on how to do it my way.

Why Are These “Secrets” Being Shared?
Let me tell you that the ultimate purpose for going into coaching is so you eventually won’t need me as a coach. “Well, isn’t that counterproductive to you making an income?” Yes, it is - but that’s not why I’m doing this. At this stage, and I admit it’s a young stage, I have multiple partnerships and various streams of income, all established and maintained with my conversations, so I don’t have to rely on a particular coaching program for money. This in turn brings more value to the user…who is YOU! You know, I just got back from a recent restaurant trade show with a friend. It was great seeing all of the dishes that were offered and how much pride the owners had in their establishments. I was struck though because almost each and every last owner I talked to showed lack of fundamental conversation skills which had me wondering how they were still in business. As my conversations continued with these owners I realized that their level of success was in line with their conversations. Many eventually confessed that they perhaps were going to have to shut down within the next year if things didn’t improve. Lack of these base conversation skill sets is a primary cause for business failure.

I don’t want this to be you. Whether you own a business or are currently employed with a company, the knowledge that you will gain through my system will allow you to increase profits and scale you up the corporate ladder faster than any other method on the Internet. This issue has to be addressed because I know from my own past experiences that the success you have later in your life is shaped by the conversations you have today. So many broken dreams lay by the wayside all because specific conversations were never had. The sad thing is that it’s not a matter of being too late what’s sad is that so many people never even realize what they should have said or could have said even after it’s too late. This guide is going to clear up the relationship you have with your business or your inner-self. For beginners I’m going to show how to identify what you want from yourself and from others. This is the groundwork where many people fail before they even begin. The more you invest in yourself the more you will get out of reading this guide. So without further hesitation - let’s get right into it!

IDENTIFY WHAT YOU WANT
The first step to success lies in your knowing what success means to you. What is it that you want to achieve with a particular exchange of words? Obviously, your goals would vary depending on the specific situation that you are in, so every time you set out to talk to someone, you’ll need to ask yourself, what is your goal? I know the sound of expressing your goal in a conversation sounds scary and tedious but in this section I’m going to simplify it for you.

9

Once you realize how much this little exercise streamlines everything that you want, you will do it automatically before you open your mouth to say anything ever again in a

Do You Brush Your Goals in the Morning?
This section is about helping you identify what you want. Not knowing the ultimate goal of your life makes the whole idea of living somewhat confused, and pointless. Similarly, on a “macro level”, not knowing why you have started, or are involved in, any particular conversation makes the whole discourse fundamentally flawed from your point of view – you will achieve success infrequently, and when you do, it will be more accidental rather than consequential. From the listener’s point of view, when you don’t have a particular goal in mind, the conversation quickly begins to go astray, tends to be vague, and you know you’ve lost your audience sooner than you want to. This is far from desirable and not only does your listener end up bored but the more often you get into this kind of a rut, the less popular you become among business colleagues, friends, and family! The best way to understand this is to go over some simple examples of specific situations in your life. Think back to a conversation you had where you felt the conversation was aimless… You probably can’t remember one because the conversation was insignificant.

10

Our goal is to reduce the amount of insignificant conversations you have. Question: How do you reduce these pointless and misdirected conversations? Answer: Know your goals. These long-term goals that you pin down will be what you would be targeting while you prepare to talk in the present (which we’ll come to shortly). The point I want to get across to you is that every conversation demands focus, an understanding of objective, and careful execution.

Don’t Let This Happen to You
Okay, let me begin with a really simple, but good example of the kind of blunder that can happen when the person who’s talking about what they want isn't focused enough about it, and gets carried away. There's a friend of mine, let's call him Henry. He was trying to get across an idea for a startup that he had, with a potential investor. Keen on getting attention and making an impression, Henry briefly talked about his technical skills and why he would be the right person to implement what he thought was his brilliant idea. Now, the twist is that the investor knew someone who was looking to hire someone with the sort of skills that Henry happened to have, so the entire conversation got sidetracked into some kind of an informal job interview. Henry was temporarily enthusiastic about the prospect of landing himself a job, however - the startup

11

idea that he wanted to promote lay forgotten. It wasn't clear to what extent the ideas made an impression, because he never got around to getting the funding he needed for this start up. This is more of an extreme example because in a sense both outcomes were positive for Henry but it might not always be the case. Consider when you just talk to talk. We get into small talk conversations everyday that for the most part don’t lead us anywhere other than into more small talk. These are the perfect conversations for communicating your goals to someone. Once you have your goals set (the questionnaire at the end of this section will help you identify your goals) you will then proceed to match up your goals to the other person’s interest (section 2) and then ultimately reap the benefits of expressing your goals (section 3). If it’s one thing you take with you it is to:

Remember your goals, always.
No matter what. Keep them in the foreground all the time. If you find yourself in Henry's shoes, for example - realize that getting to your goal is like walking a dog. You need to be in control and walk it to where you want it to go, rather than letting other outside

influences effect where your goal walks to…which is usually in all sorts of directions rather than to the finish line. Bad goal!

Types of Goals
Your goals are the backbone to who you are. As according to Steven Kaye who is an IAF Certified Professional, these goals can range from: • Achievement goals – This is a goal where you ultimately want to get to something. Example: Retire with X amount of dollars. • Action goals – This is a goal that is created to help you get to an achievement goal. Example: meet with an investment counselor. • Limit goals - These set boundaries and help manage priorities. Example: spend less than $5,000 on new equipment. • Rate goals - These specify actions repeatedly done over time. Example: Invest $300 every month for a vacation at the end of the year. • Exclusion goals - These state things that you will not do. Example: Do not spend more than X amount of dollars on entertainment this month. • Layered goals - These specify the same goal with different levels of priority and difficulty. Example: Top Priority: Read one book each moth, Medium Priority: Read two books each month. Low Priority: Read three books each month. Use

Life Lesson from The Doctor
In another incident, someone I was coaching was faced with a tricky situation. This was someone who had recently embarked on his medical career. We had been discussing how to add the appeal factor to his already excellent services. You see, unless you tell people what you have to offer, and unless you tell it well, there is no way that your client would know how good you are. There are exceptions to the rule, of course, for instance, you may earn a reputation and someone may be hooked on a reference. However, in most cases, people evaluate you, and make judgments, based on what you have to show them. Would you pickup something from the supermarket that’s shabbily packaged? Even a grand product would go mostly unnoticed if it is poorly presented. However, let me confess that I’m leading you up to a bit of an anticlimax. This guy was faced with a situation at home, when his little niece had a bit of a nasty accident. The details are gory; but suffice to say that she had to be treated immediately to some painful first-aid. What was so wonderfully impressive was that our young doc managed to distract the girl with a little mesmerizing story while he carried out his bandaging. I met her later, and when

14

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

she was recollecting the incident, she said she didn’t even feel the pain because the story had piqued, and grabbed her attention. If you were the doctor, would you be able to achieve this? This almost sounds like an exercise in hypnotism, but it is something that you can also do if you are clear about your intentions (and if you follow the advice in the rest of this report)! Clearly, you need to realize that the objective of a conversation with a girl in pain is not to impress her, or to treat her like a to-be-client. You just want to get hold of her attention and lead her into dreamland so you can go about your business without causing her a lot of pain. Once you know this is what you want, you’ll take all subsequent steps accordingly, and you cannot go wrong.

Magic? Absolutely. Doable? Undoubtedly!
Hopefully these examples have illustrated how important it is to know what you want of a specific situation. It really lays down the foundation for everything else that happens in the conversation… and the rest of this guide.

It All Comes Back to You
Now let’s pull back a bit and go global. Apply the same principle to your own life, right now. You are going to need to identify what it is that you want to do and what you want to achieve. Perhaps it’s building your business, or taking it to the next level. If you are a student, your ambitions may have to do with graduating, doing well in assignments, and so on. You may think that doing well in exams would have nothing to do with the art of conversing, but you’ll soon see how it all ties up in one big picture. If you love someone, but aren’t able to tell her (or him), then that’s an example of a personal goal. Maybe you just want to start a blog about the recipes that you keep inventing, or maybe you want to persuade your spouse about something that you have in mind. Perhaps you have been yearning for a promotion that’s just not happening. Or maybe you are preparing for an interview for a job that you want.

Perfect Example
Let’s stop there and take that last one as an example… you are preparing for an interview and your goal is to ace this interview

16

with ABC Company. So leading up to your interview day you make sure you relay how you want to ace your interview with ABC Company to people you meet. Your action goal for this achievement goal is to be able to discuss ABC Company’s major strengths in the interview. By you expressing this goal to people in your daily conversations you might just run into someone who has worked, knows someone who has worked, or is working for ABC Company and knows exactly what the interviewees want to hear. This tremendously useful and powerful information has only been given to you because you identified your goal and relayed it in your conversation.

It’s Now or Never
I have a quick questionnaire on the next page that mimics the process that I use to help my clients find their goals in life, and I’m confident you’ll find success with it too. Print it, answer it, clip it somewhere you can see it. If it is terribly personal, then keep it in a diary or organizer that you carry around with you all the time. Remember that this is what you want out of life right now, it’s your deepest, most passionate desire, and you just can’t afford to let it go out of sight, you want it so bad, you just can’t let go…

17

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

This process of goal-discovery will help you like a compass. It will steer your life on track, give you a sense of direction, and help focus your thoughts, from which you will derive strength and motivation. It’s the most important thing that’ll drive everything else that you do.

1. What do I want the most right now?
If you can't identify a single desire, you can pin down the few things that you think of as your present ambition or desire, and answer the questions below for each. Ideally, there shouldn't be too many things that your heart wants desperately right now - if this is the case, prioritize, and think deeply about what are the things for which you are willing to spend sleepless nights :) The fewer that you have at any given moment, the easier you'll find it to focus. Remember, these have to be things that you are passionate about - you won't be able to execute the plan of action of this guide for something that cannot keep you motivated and striving for days. Use the section on Types of Goals to help you formulate the type of goal you want to focus on. 1___________________________________________________ 2___________________________________________________ 3___________________________________________________

2. By when do I want to achieve these goals?
A. Less than a month. B. Less than three months. C. Less than six months.
19

D. Less than a year. E. This is more long-term than a year. F. This is ongoing.

3. What are the incentives for achieving these goals?
List at least three off the top of your head that justify each pursuit. For example, maybe your getting a job would make you feel a lot more confident about proposing to your loved one, so that's one good reason, or maybe you need to sell X amount of widgets before months end. Do I have what it takes to achieve what I want in terms of: Finance? Confidence? Support from family / friends? Ability? Public Relations? Anything else that might be a possible pre-requisite to you achieving your goals.

You should be able to answer “Yes” to all of the above prerequisites. If you are missing one or more of these pre-requisites then these might be goals in themselves or in some sense might be a SubGoal to enable you to set a Main Goal. In this case see below.

5.

Identify the Sub-Goals. For example, if you want to sell a

product, you should have a product to begin with. If your family is unhappy with what you want to do, you need to persuade them into concurring with you first. *Depending on the Main Goal, you might even have to break down your sub-goals into steps as seen in the above diagram.

5. When can you start on fulfilling the pre-requisites, sub-goals,
and steps for your Main Goal? A. TODAY! B. TODAY! C. TODAY!

The sooner you get down to it, the better. Chalk up a plan, and get started! Take a pre-requisite, and check if there's anything that prevents you from getting started (apart from lethargy!) - if not, embark on fulfilling the pre-requisite, always keeping the Main Goal in mind. Repeat till you are only a step away from the real thing, and then take that step!

Show Interest in Others to Get What You Want
Now that you have your goals in place, the next step is to show an interest in the person who you want to communicate your goals to. Remember that biology class about the digestive system? You can’t swallow your dinner whole, you need to break it down into smaller bits that your system can handle. Like we did in the last section. People can’t digest your whole goal for you. You have to break the goal down and feed them it in pieces. As we will see, the receptiveness of the people you communicate your goals to depends on how much interest

24

“Show a sincere interest in others and they will act on your best interest in return.” – J.V. Genovese
(Yes, I quoted myself) Okay, so now that you’ve identified your goals, it’s time I told you something about how to achieve them. The first step towards getting there is opening up the avenue for your goals to be heard. You have to focus on showing interest in the person you are talking to for them to be interested REMEMBER in helping you achieve your goals How can people help you and objectives. REMEMBER: Don’t forget that the reason we broke down our goals in the previous section is so we can feed our sub-goals in smaller bite size chunks to people to allow for easier assistance from them.

get what you want or help you get to where you want to go if they don’t know anything about your goals or desires? Keep track of the current goal that you want to communicate in conversation by updating the Notes section in your cell phone. If you see it everyday you have a better chance of remembering to communicate it.

A Lesson from Larry
Let’s go over an example that will help. Larry is just out of college, and is adventurous – he does not enjoy the monotony of a regular

25

job, nor does he want to be tied down to any system. He wants to be his own boss, have his own working hours, and he hates the morning commute. So he decides to embark on creating a (hopefully successful) online business, which allows him to work from home. Larry doesn’t know much about web design but what he does know is that he needs to hire a designer to construct his site for him. He is against outsourcing and only wants to deal with a local web designer that he can meet with. So his achievement goal is: to hire a local web designer that he can meet with face-to-face to help build his site. His action goal is to: first find a local web designer. Throughout any given day Larry will meet up with about 10-15 strangers who he could potentially ask for advice on where to find a reliable web designer. The following are two examples of different approaches that Larry could take during his daily routine.

1st Approach: Non-Goal Minded and Non-Interest Focused
Larry went about his daily routine but made no effort to talk to strangers about his desires and aspirations of finding a web designer. Rather, he emailed a few friends and family members to see who they know but since these people were already apart of his immediate social circle they were not much help.

26

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

He thought about using a few of the services on the Internet to find a local designer but he still wanted the comfort of hearing referrals from a ‘real live’ person and meeting the designer face-to-face. Larry can only remember talking to his waitress at a restaurant where he went for dinner that night bout finding a web designer, but she wasn’t much help either because she was focused mainly about her job at hand. So, Larry ended his night with out any new leads for a reliable web designer.

2nd Approach: Goal Minded and Interest Focused
When Larry wakes up to start his day he reminds himself that most people are primarily focused on themselves and the best way for him to gain assistance from these strangers is by showing an interest in them from the start. Once he expresses an interest in their goals or an interest in what they are doing at that moment, he knows that the chance of these strangers helping him increases dramatically. Below are the ways that Larry expressed an interest in the following people during his day.

27

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

1. Waitress: “Busy today? Hopefully you had no rude customers.” 2. Stranger in Line: “Ah, I see you’re buying product X. I heard that that product got excellent reviews.” 3. Cashier: “How have your lines been moving today?” 4. Stranger at the Post Office: “I heard that the post office will do doorstep pick up. You ever think about doing that to make your day easier?” 5. Teller at the Bank: “What are the most individual bills someone ever needed you to count for them?” 6. Owner of the Local Bar: “What beer has been selling the best for you?” 7. Friend’s Father at the Local Country Club: “How did your round of golf go today?” 8. Sales Clerk at Retail Store: “What is your favorite item that you sell here in the store?” 9. Barber: “As a barber I’m sure you hear some good stories from your customers… anything worth telling?” 10. Patient in an Eye Care Waiting Room: “Have you ever considered getting Lasik Eye Surgery?”

The above statements might be short and seem insignificant out of context but the feeling of rapport jumps when the target realizes the focus of the conversation is on them.

28

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

After brief exchanges with the above people, Larry remembered to do one or both of the following actions to fully open his opportunistic door as wide as it could go. Larry:

Found out what they do with their time
1. Found out what they did with their time when they weren’t working. a. This aloud the people to talk about their interest and hobbies while subconsciously building rapport. b. Many of the people automatically viewed Larry as a “nice and genuine” guy because he put the interests of others before his own aspirations.

Found out about their aspirations and goals
2. Found out what aspirations or goals the person he was talking to set for him or her self. a. Everyone wants to talk about their goals and when Larry attempted to elicit their goals from them he automatically set himself apart from the average person. This is because no one else asked that person what his or her goals are that day (or maybe even ever.) b. By procuring the aspirations of a stranger, this allows Larry to see if he can offer any advice or beneficial contacts.

29

The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program – Initiate Conversations with 50 New People in One Month to Reach Your Goals Coming Soon!

Moral of the Story: By focusing on the points above Larry put the other person first in the conversation which allowed him to be viewed as not another self-centered self-promoter. So now when he communicates his goals they are actually heard and processed rather than being received by blank stares and nods . After setting the focus of the conversation on the other person, Larry is free to discuss his own personal goal much more freely and with much more success. So now let’s just recap for a minute… Larry now, after one day, has expressed his goal to about 10 people. This is 10 people who now know who Larry is and more importantly know what he’s trying to do.

So a little math… take the 10 people Larry met today,
on Monday morning, and multiply it by five (5 weekdays). That’s 50 people. Since he expressed interest in these people by unlocking his “relationship” door using his rapport key, he now has 50 people who: 1. Know him, 2. Know his goal, 3. Like him as a person,

30

4. Will remember him, 5. And will do what they can to assist with his goal when possible.

Just when you thought I wasn’t going to mention (with a deep booming voice)

THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
The Law of Attraction has received a ton of hype in recent years and for good reason. It focuses on the mind set we maintain as goal oriented people and how our thoughts affect the outcome of our goals. Whether you believe in the Law of Attraction or not you can not deny that your goals have a better chance of getting accomplished when you have an army of people who want to help you achieve your goal. Eventually, by using the Personal Goal Communicator 3 step mthod, you are going to meet someone who is going to be

31

able to bring you one step closer to your Main Goal or lead you to someone who can. So in a sense all the Law of Attraction is, and ever was, was the power to communicate your goals to others.

Don’t believe me? Try this exercise…
Life moves as fast as the people in the picture to the left. People don’t have time to hear what you want out of life. Do both of the below exercises and see for yourself how the results vary when communicating in today’s fast paced world. Exercise 1) • Establish a goal that you want to get accomplished. • Break it down into sub-goals and smaller parts. • Get into conversations and let your goals spill out before finding anything out about the other person. Exercise 2) • Establish a goal that you want to get accomplished. • Break it down into sub-goals and smaller parts. • Get into a conversation and follow Larry’s 2nd Approach

and will likely leave a bitter taste that you could do without!

The DON’T List
Do not waver from the path that you set out for yourself. Never lose focus. Don’t indulge in a conversation that doesn’t lead you a step closer to your goal. Idle, mindless talk lacking in purpose quickly derails into useless gossip, tiring arguments, or a waste of time, at any rate draining you out of valuable energy that you need to reserve for the pursuit. When you are trying to persuade someone into doing something for you (whether it’s landing a deal or getting someone to agree with you on something), resist the temptation to get pushy, or aggravated. Impatience and aggravation turns the conversation into an argument, and only leads you away from your goals! During a conversation, if a question crops up that you do not know the answer to, do not try to pretend that you do. Not only will you soon be found out, you will have no way of covering up! Don’t get carried away. Resist provocation. Do not be tempted into religious or political wars about anything, even for fun. It will do no good

The DO List
Remember to relax when in a conversation, even the ones for which you have an important purpose at the back of your mind. Be yourself. It will serve you a lot more than you would imagine. If it is a discussion in a formal setup, such as a meeting, prepare well in advance. Prepare as much as a speaker would before he gives a public talk. A discussion that can make or break a deal takes as much, if not more, of dedicated planning, rehearsal and preparation before you are ready to take it on. While you should refrain from being loud and obnoxious, you should not shy away from making your point. It’s not easy to tread the line, but with practice, it’ll be a part of your character. Remember: Be polite, always. But be firm. Learn from your mistakes. No matter how many guides you read, and no matter how successful you get – they will always be there, the failures. The best of us are stuck with ’em. You learn from them and move on.

Get What You Want
In this section, we’ll tie it all together. From identifying your main and sub-goals - to expressing interest in others - to sharing your goal - to ultimately GETTING WHAT YOU WANT. You will see that a well-executed conversation can create a lot of positive vibes, and the energy that you create is what will get you places.

35

Reap What You Sow
It is now time for you to benefit from your efforts… and it does take effort to set up all of the pieces of a successful conversation like you have done here by following the method in The Personal Goal Communicator. I even commend you for coming this far. Don’t fret because you are closer to attaining your goals than you think.

Empty Their Head
Once they are exhausted about talking about their aspirations and goals it will be time to move in and fill their head space with your words. NOTE: Filling their head with your words can only be achieved once you have allowed them to empty their head by allowing them to talk about themselves. You should ask pertinent questions so you can truly see the big picture that they have painted for themselves in your mind. You will see why in a moment.

Fill Their Head
Now you can finally start injecting your personal aspirations into them. There are two main ways you can do this and you must have completed Step 2 of The Personal Goal Communicator for this to work. I call these two techniques:

1) The All Powerful Word: “Similar” 2) Bridging the Gap

Technique #1 The All Powerful Word: “Similar”
What it is: After extracting what the aspirations and goals are from your target in Step 2, you are going to state that your goals and aspirations are “Similar” to theirs… even if it is not. What this does: By using and emphasizing the word “Similar” you create that subconscious connection that you are like and almost analogous to your target. Why this is important: Rapport, Rapport, Rapport. Whenever there is a chance for you to build rapport you have to grasp it with both hands…and feet. This is a great way to help you catch their ear when you are ready to express your goals. REMEMBER: if you never allowed them to empty their head by allowing them to talk about him or her self then you would never have the opportunity to use The All Powerful Word: “Similar.” Example of Use:

Your goal is to break into the entertainment PR industry and you find yourself talking to a stranger at a networking event. You follow Step 2 and find out that your target’s goal is to increase his brand awareness of his product. You offer some advice or contacts, if you have them, then say something like: “I can completely relate to (Target’s goal) see I share a SIMILAIR goal like yours…(express your goal).” Even if your goal is no where near akin to what their goal is, just by saying the word “Similar” it will have a connecting effect on the person you’re talking to. And at the very least will get them to open their ears to what you have to say.

Technique #2 Bridging the Gap
What it is: Bridging the Gap is a technique that I developed that helps relate your goals to people on their interest level. What you are doing is establishing your goal, identifying their interest (hobby, profession, or anything else they like to do) and finding a way to connect the two (your goal and their interest) in the conversation before expressing your goal. What this does: This allows the conversation to flow smoothly into what you want to talk about by avoiding the awkward silence or pushy feeling that comes from talking about self-gratifying points.

38

This is possible because the bridged idea or conversation topic allows you to easily move into the next conversation which will be about your goals. Why this is important: Many people do not know any techniques for turning a conversation around in their favor. The Bridging the Gap technique gives you a surefire way of allowing you to introduce your goals and aspirations into the conversation casually without the other person even realizing what you just did. Example of Use: Let’s say your goal is to buy ABC Boat from a private dealer. You find yourself talking to a gentlemen sitting at the table next to you in a restaurant. After using Step 2 you realize his interests are focused on hunting. You don’t hunt but you want to communicate your goals in the conversation. So you decide to Bridge the Gap between their interest (hunting) and your goal (buying a new boat for the best price). Now you don’t fish but you connect the mental dots and realize that fishing is like hunting but just on the water. The next thing you say to him will be something like, “I don’t do much hunting on land because I would rather like to do my hunting in the sea. I love the water and fishing is my version of hunting. How often do you fish?” You would then gauge his response and continue to talk about fishing if your target is interested in that topic of conversation.

If they are not interested in fishing then you can either try and find a new interest or hobby that they have and Bridge the Gap for that topic or simply express your goal anyway since you still Bridged the Gap as best you could. Once the fishing conversation starts to come to an end you would then express your goals. “Yea, speaking of fishing and being on a boat, I have been trying to buy the new ABC Boat from a private dealer. You know anyone I can talk to about that?” Notice the underlined phrase as it is the essence of the Bridging the Gap technique. You continue the conversation in your favor citing the past topic of conversation that you, by design, were taking about.

Time For The Next Step
In the short time we’ve spent together today, we’ve covered a huge amount of ground — so let’s recap to make sure you have a clear understanding of the powerful truths and new ideas you’ve just learned. For starters, I had you realize that your knowledge, skills and commitment are NOT what determine your success. Rather, the materialization of the Main Goal in your mind is what determines how successful you will be. Then… We went over why it’s important to have your goals ready for quick draw when talking to anyone you meet.

40

Showed you the way of identifying a Main Goal and breaking it down into sub-goals and even sub-parts for easy “feeding” to the people you meet. Then we went over to how to establish rapport and show interest in others to open up their ears for your goals. We discussed how emptying your target’s head is as important as filling it up. We did this by finding out what their interests and aspirations are and let them discuss it in detail. We then went over the two main techniques for introducing your goals to your target in a casual, free-flowing way. You finally realized that your odds of talking to someone who can help you increase dramatically when you enlist the powers of the spoken goal.

It’s All in the Palm of Your Hand…
With the techniques you learned today with the Personal Goal Communicator you will be able to confidently express your goals to whomever you come into contact. It doesn’t matter what you want: Promotions Raises More prospects More clients

Cars Financing for a new business Assistance with a project at work Need to find a bookie (just kidding) Or even a specific type of person that you are trying to meet. Whatever your goal is you will get to it faster and easier using the Personal Goal Communicator. There are still a few things I want you to remember the next time you have a goal that you need to get accomplished fast and effectively. 1. You are only as successful as the goals you set out for yourself. If you do not have a current goal then you are driving in the pitch black with your headlights off. Realize a goal and materialize it as soon as possible. 2. The next thing is to remember all the sub-tasks associated with your current goal. Keep them in mind all the time. This will allow you to concentrate on them, and you’ll be able to check yourself when you begin to go astray in a conversation. 3. Ask yourself repeatedly before doing anything, “Where is this taking me?” If you do not like the answer, re-assess your goal and be sure to communicate to your target.

4. People unfortunately are too busy to listen to what you want or need. Make them listen by allowing them to empty their heads. 5. Understand that not everyone is going to be able to bring you closer to your goals but think of it this way… at the end of the day, when you’re lying in bed, ask yourself “Did I do everything possible to bring me a step closer to my goal today?” If the answer is no then think of someone who you talked to, or could have talked to, who you could have relayed your goal to by following the Personal Goal Communicator method.

The Best Way I Know to Turn Goals into Gold
As powerful as this mini-system is for you to achieve what you want faster out of life, the simple truth is that this system is not specifically tailored to you, your business, or your life. I wish it could be; but that would be impossible to do in a document like this one. Like I told you earlier, I don’t know you. I have no idea what business you’re in, how your products operate, or who your prospects are. I’ve done my absolute best to make this guide an applicable tool for you. But given these limitations, I am able to go only so far for you. Everything you’ve read up to this point has barely scratched the service of the powerful potential you have at achieving your goals faster then ever before.

I can tell you that a strong network around you can determine your success when you are building your career, and be your reassurance in times of failure. Nothing serves you as well as a positive network with strong well-intentioned foundations. To bring you further into leveraging others to get what you want is going to take much more than a 40 page guide. It’s going to take serious commitment and I’m ready for that commitment if you are. I’m ready to personally help you as soon as you give the word…

Assistance Is Closer Than You Think
To help you get the same kinds of results that my clients get when I help them leverage others and bolster their mental focus, I’ve decided to do something that is going to take me away from my friends, family, and other obligations for the next month. I’m going to take a select group of like minded entrepreneurs, business owners, and other sales driven individuals and for one month, personally walk them through the hardest step of any conversation: Initiation. We all crave to have more contacts but we can’t even fathom closing a sale if we don’t know how to break the ice…and as we all know the sale is usually made within the first 30 seconds of contact. Right from the start you need to know that this program is called The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program and it is definitely NOT for everyone. It’s going to be intense and definitely not for weak stomachs.

I assure you that I will not waste your time with concepts you’ll see anywhere else. We’re going to move week by week and produce results everyday. Participants need to be on their toes because the goal for the people of the program is to initiate conversations with 50 people or more in that month. How does adding 50 new people to your personal army of those who want to help you establish your goals sound? This will NOT be an at some distance process. You are going to work closely with me to lay out a personal plan for you to hit your 50 person mark. And as you might expect, I’ll have no choice but to strictly limit the number of online participants I allow to take part. It’s the only way to guarantee that I’ll be able to spend the kind of quality time with you that’s required to get to know you and what you ultimately want out of life.

No Joke
I must also warn you: Securing a place in The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program will not be cheap. No, I won’t ask you to pay my mortgage or car payment but the price for right of entry into the program might be a factor for some. Unfortunately, this is the way it needs to be and I’ll tell you why. First, I need to know that you’re serious about reaching your full potential as a communicator and ‘leverager’ of people.

45

Second, I want to make sure that every person who joins me for the month is serious about what is expected of them. Because as a student of Rapport Key technique, all participants will have the chance to break the ice with one another and grow with each other in this program. Ultimately, being a resource for years to come. Third, the contacts you are going to make through using The Breaking the Ice Accelerator Program are going to be yours forever. No one will ever take the 50+ contacts you are going to make away from you. Anyone of these people have the potential to bring you one step closer to your goals…and for that I deserve a fair price.

It’s Coming!
That being said there is still some preparation to be completed for the influx of students on opening day. I will be in touch. Make sure to check your inbox for messages from me for more on this elite program. Till then, I hope you have fun implementing the ideas in this report. I’m confident that there’s nothing that can get between you and your success if you follow this advice closely!
