MCHB Leadership Competencies Version 2.0

Purpose: to individually reflect on your LEND teaching during LEND sessions and
individual supervision and as a role model to trainees to 1) identify how you already
incorporate some of the leadership competencies into your teaching and 2) identify
several opportunities to increase focus on the objectives in your teaching.
(For this exercise, do not include your work with LEND trainees during the Research
Teams.)
1) Working individually, circle at least three competencies on which to focus your work
for this exercise:
Competency 1: MCH Knowledge Base
Competency 2: Self-reflection
Competency 3: Ethics and Professionalism
Competency 4: Critical Thinking

Competency 6: Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

2) Provide two or three examples of how your LEND teaching already incorporates
some specific objectives.
3) State two to three action items which will bring more focus on the objectives into your
teaching during LEND classroom sessions and individual supervision.
