Greetings,
A paradigm shift has taken place, it is the new perspective needed at turning points in history when a prevailing
concept fails to explain recurring phenomena. Instead of maintaining the current perspective that Haiti is poor,
barely surviving and constantly struggling, we must create a new perception. VISUALIZE: Haiti will survive (see
it), Haiti will rise up from the ashes and become, again (read about Haiti's history), a nation of success, prosperity
and power (see it) and like a fax machine, SEND......
We here are blessed in comparison and must help this country release sorrow and worry because:
Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Anger and fear are burdens.
Stress controls your focus and ability.

May we remain in collective consciousness as we deliver not only money and supplies to Haiti, let us also
send prayers, positive thoughts and energy to Haiti and each other.
Dear Universal Mother and Father
In accordance with your will,
I pray that this new age in human history
become a time of collective consciousness
I pray that it will unite us as one
so that we may all realize our true purpose in life
I pray for justice, compassion, love and light
I pray for goodness to become a way of life which will bring
about everlasting harmony, peace and unity.
Dear God, we thank you for this opportunity to effect change.
Amen,

Greetings,
Here are the donations from absolutely everywhere (it comes out to be 12 pages in
Word, so you might want to read thoroughly before printing then, you can copy and
paste what you want to print--back to back, if possible)!
I am blessed, honored and a little overwhelmed with all the info and interactions I have received. Many have asked for
the best places to send financial donations. That is a tough call, however, you might want to earnestly research the
history of the Red Cross and UNICEF. If you recall, there was a big scandal about the Red Cross and how most of
their money is going towards operational costs. UNICEF has a history of not being just and equal in every country
particularly countries of color. Of course, no organization can stay in business without covering their costs;
however, there should be separate accounting practices in place to ensure that the targeted account is being
disseminated correctly.

Personal Suggestions:
NOAH and Yele for monetary donations
For social and economic empowerment, I recommend Fonkoze
In terms of clothing, etc., there are many in the NYC area that will probably be just fine. For social and
economic empowerment, I recommend Fonkoze
There are many on this list, I am sure with the best of intentions; take your time; use your heart and
mind to guide you

As an advocate of health and wellness, I am personally working with: NOAH (National Organization for the Advancement
of Haitians) founded in 1991. The NOAH New York Medical Mission fundraises for itself so they can go to Haiti and
provide free medical services. The NOAH medical mission includes doctors, dentists, pharmacists and translators. What
is somewhat unique and special: many of the medical personnel are specialists in terms of diseases that are prevalent in
African communities throughout the world i.e. diabetes, renal (kidney and dialysis), heart, blood pressure, stroke, etc.
Most attractive to me is the Ubuntu commitment, the organization was founded by Haitians who excelled in this country
2
and "did not forget where they came from". They are now in a position to give back, quietly and effectively along with
fellow doctors from many cultures and races.

Here is the Yele info I received!
http://www.yele.org/
OR TEXT "YELE" TO 501501 - $5 WILL BE CHARGED TO YOUR ACCOUNT.
For all other organizations, give gifts like water, clothes, can goods, medical supplies, etc...
(The other organizations like texting $10 to 909 something is Red Cross. Do that at your own risk. Maybe
things have been corrected?)
GIVE ONLY IF YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN OF THE ORGANIZATION'S EFFORT TO DIRECTLY
HELP THOSE IN HAITI!
=======================
My Comment:
Yele means Cry for Freedom!
Some young person gave me Wyclef Jean's CD called Carnival (circa 1997) last year and, of course, I
did not check it out until now. The intention was to help me understand how many youth are in the
empowerment mix. It is a very interesting CD, when you take the time to listen to the various
messages.
Here is a link where you can hear parts of that CD and Yele is song No. 23 (I wish I could get someone
to translate the Yele song, most of the songs are in English). This music is beautiful! When things
settle down in Haiti, why not give this champion of the Haitian people a play and purchase his CD.
Sometimes we forget to give back to the heroes. Reciprocity is a beautiful thing. (Did he pay me to
say this, NO, he has no idea who I am). Nettie

Update #2 -- An Urgent Message to Friends and Donors of Fonkoze Re: the
Earthquake
Thursday, January 14, 2010 – 6:57 PM (ET)
3
What we know, in addition to what we shared yesterday:
Leigh Carter, Executive Director of Fonkoze USA, who was in Haiti to co-lead a delegation has been evacuated to
the Dominican Republic. It is reported that she has been treated for cracked ribs at a Dominican hospital. She is
expected back in DC tomorrow (Friday).
Fonkoze and SFF HQ Building cannot be used; the wall surrounding the property is demolished; and securing the
property is a concern.
Staff in Haiti are working on establishing an emergency operations center.
For the most part, staff in Haiti cannot communicate with one another or USA staff.
More funds than originally thought will be needed to: support staff and their families, replace facilities and
equipment, and make new loans to help borrowers re-pay original loans and re-establish their businesses.
Due to a large volume of hits on our web site, we had a brief glitch in making donations online; that has been
remedied.
Although the list is incomplete, many groups have already announced their support for Fonkoze via Fonkoze USA
including: Catholics in Alliance, Microplace, two Catholic Dioceses, ProLiteracy Haiti, Rabobank, Adelante
Foundation in Honduras, Ebay (more info to come tomorrow), Pikliz.com, City National Bank of New Jersey, etc.
What we don’t know:
Status of Port au Prince Branch
Status of other branches that may have been affected, their staff, families, and borrowers
Ability of Fonkoze’s to execute transfers or release funds to branches
When we will be able to communicate directly to Haiti staff and/or how soon we will be able to get more detailed
information
We are trying to get answers to “what we don’t know” as soon as possible.
If you are interested in going to Haiti as a volunteer or have major assets that you think would be usable in Haiti, please
completely describe your skills or other assets by filling out the contact form at this link. When we finally get in touch with
our Haiti staff, we can then determine what is needed and match their needs with your offer.
Thank you for your continued prayers and assistance!
Please make a donation to our “Earthquake Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.”

Hi Hafeezah-
I did some research, and I believe Partners in Health is the best organization through which to contribute to the Haitian
earthquake relief efforts. Partners in Health is a non-profit organization that has been on the ground in Haiti for more than
20 years. They operate world-renowned clinics and health care programs with 120 doctors and nearly 500 nurses and
nursing assistants in eight sites across Haiti. PIH is working directly with the Haitian people to teach them how to develop
their own healthcare infrastructure.
The earthquake had devastated Haiti – but Partners in Health’s work is needed more than ever. Right now they need our
help to get supplies, equipment, and additional staff to the people most in need. I just made a contribution to Partners in
Health’s response and recovery efforts. Would you let the Circle know about Partners in Health so they will know about
7
this great avenue to help the people in Haiti? Thanks much.
Warmly,
Tamara

Dear EC and TTN and FAC colleagues,
I take the liberty of forwarding you this statement we at the Huairou.org have made re the Haitian disaster and our
recommendations due to the great knowledge represented in the statement- knowledge earned the hard way by
grassroots women leaders dealing first hand with such disasters in five world regions over the past two decades.
To subscribe to our ongoing bulletins such as this one, let me know or contact us directly at www.huairou.org.
We ( HC/GROOTS) will be organizing at least one delegation to Haiti - of key grassroots and partner women leaders and
trainers in the next period, - helping local groups to map and plan strategically to turn the disaster resources into
resources for Haiti's long term, bottom up development journey. You are invited to contribute to that effort if it makes
sense to you.
Only and primarily - equitable and timely world development - will bring us earth and people peace - in my humble
opinion! May we each find our best role in this work of building and rebuilding the Earth Community.

Subject: Haiti Note from Bob Gore
January 14, 2010
To my Extended Family:
Like many of our friends, you’ve probably heard me or Dr. Robby talk about our work in Haiti at Bethlehem Ministry’s
Clinique Espérance et Vie (hope and life). Some contributed to last year’s solar power installation, and we are truly
grateful for your support. Sadly, the current catastrophe is beyond any we could have anticipated. Imagine life in
9
America if New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington were all devastated. Only then can you begin to appreciate
the loss Haiti has suffered. The massive loss of life and the incalculable residual health, housing and economic issues will
be with us for years to come. Banking, retail, import/export, manufacturing, national government, communications, air
travel and higher education were all centered in the region of impact.
We’re gearing up to care for more patients each day. Though the earthquakes did not affect our community, we’re sure
to see a ripple effect from the initial shock. Our new partner, Kings County Hospital, will now offer new specialties
including midwifery, obstetrics and orthopedics, and will perform surgeries not previously available to the poor.
Additionally, we will share all our resources with other hospitals and clinics with a special emphasis on providing state-
of-the-art training for local physicians and staff. Our patients come from near and far and many of them have seldom, if
ever, received medical attention. Each is provided professional care and medicines, regardless of ability to pay.
Our commitment is long term. For the past twenty-five years, Bethlehem Ministry has built stainable education, energy
and healthcare institutions. Every donated dollar goes directly to programs in Haiti. Bethlehem Ministry is a
nonsectarian, not-for-profit (501c3) organization, funded by the faith community and administered by volunteers like
me. Please call me (718-421-5490) with questions or go to our web site for more information and to make a donation.

Project South is a grassroots organization based in the US South. For over 23 years , we have created critical spaces for movement

programs focus on communities of color affected by social control and economic degradation created by historic and current trends of
privatization, exploitation, and structural racism in the US. We provide popular political education through our dynamic leadership
development models, and we build relationships with organizations and networks across the US and global South. We believe in
bottom-up movement building for social, racial, and economic justice on local, regional, national, and global levels.

It is important for the African Community around the world to come together and show their support. We must make sure that the
