COMPETITIONS - ADCOCK - INGRAM YOUNG SCIENTIST - SUBMISSION CRITERIA


This competition is open to Academy members only. Please include membership number with
submission.


The presentation must be the participant's first podium presentation at a conference (other than an
internal event at the institution at which the participant was registered for the degree).


The presentation must be based on the work undertaken for the participant's first postgraduate
degree.


The study must be of relevance to the pharmaceutical sciences.


There are no sub-categories for the different disciplines.


Participants must, in addition to the abstract, submit a short report of 800 words (there may also be
either one figure or one table and not more than 5 references) and a brief curriculum vitae. This
report must be submitted together with the abstract or the candidate will not be considered for the
award.


The short report(s) of the winner and other selected participants may be published in the South
African Pharmaceutical Journal.


The decision of the judges is final.

COMPETITIONS - ADCOCK-INGRAM BEST PUBLICATION AWARD - SUBMISSION CRITERIA


This competition is open to Academy members only. Please include membership number with
submission.


There are 4 sub-categories (pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology and pharmacy
practice). A prize will be awarded in a category if, in the opinion of the judges, a suitable
submission(s) has been received.


The paper must have been published during the calendar year prior to that in which the competition
is held i.e. for this year's competition the paper must have been published during 2010.


Both review and original articles may be submitted.


The participant must be a major contributor to the paper. The name of the participant must be
clearly indicated - failure to do so will mean that the paper will not be assessed.

Only one entry is allowed per participant in each of the four categories.
A pdf file of the article must be submitted.


The submission must be accompanied by the completed and signed entry form.


The decision of the judges is final.

COMPETITIONS - JOHNSON & JOHNSONS PHARMACY TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD -
SUBMISSION CRITERIA


This competition is open to Academy members only. Please include membership number with
submission.


Participants must be involved in teaching B. Pharm undergraduate students.


Participants are requested to submit a covering letter motivating why they should be considered for
the award. This should include a clear reflection of their teaching philosophy and teaching practices.


Participants are required to submit any material that would provide evidence of excellence in
teaching e.g., results of lecturer evaluation by students, course notes, transparencies, assessment
and learning methods employed, student results, student assignments etc.


The finalists may be asked to present themselves for an interview with / presentation to the judging
panel.


An award will only be made if submissions of a suitable standard are received.
The winner will be required to deliver a podium presentation at the annual conference of the
Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the year following the award and to write a short report of
800 words (either one table or figure and not more than 5 references may also be included in the
report) for publication in the South African Pharmaceutical Journal.


Please ensure that a copy of all material included in the portfolio is retained.


The submission must be accompanied by the completed and signed entry form.


Prior winners may not resubmit within a three year cycle.


The decision of the judges is final.
