Biography – Constable Natalie Aitken
Constable Natalie Aitken joined the Winnipeg Police Service in April 1998 and is currently in her
12th year of service. For the 1st 4 years of her career Natalie worked as a Uniform Officer in
Division 11 eventually acted in the role of a Field Training Officer.
Natalie has worked in the Domestic Violence Unit, the Organized Crime Unit and in March 2007,
transferred into the Community Relations Unit to assume the role of a School Education Officer.
In May 2008, Natalie transferred into the Crime Prevention Section and took on the role of the
Business Constable. The main responsibilities involved consulting and presenting to various
small and large businesses, hospitals and community groups.
In April 2009, Natalie was selected to serve as an Instructor and Field Training Program Manager
for the Winnipeg Police Service Training Academy. These roles were both demanding yet
extremely rewarding.
As of May 2010, Natalie transferred into the Public Information Unit, where she currently serves
as one of the two Public Information Officers for the Winnipeg Police Service.
Biography – Phil Waite
Married, father of four, Phil Waite was raised and educated in Winnipeg.
Phil received his air traffic control license in 1993 and transitioned to NavCanada
in '96 with the privatization of Canada's Air Traffic Services.
In 2008, Phil accepted a supervisor position and has spent the past 2+ years in
charge of training for West Low Specialty (Winnipeg Area Control Centre).
Phil recently received the National Chairman's Award for Employee Excellence
for developing progressive training program in 2010.
Biography – Lori Ulrich
Lori Ulrich has been a nurse for 29 years. Early on in her career, she worked in various clinical
areas in Winnipeg before venturing north to Churchill. Lori fell in love with the north and
worked in a nursing station in Nunavut, as well as nursing stations in northern Manitoba. Lori
also worked as a flight nurse, transporting patients from northern communities to Thompson or
Winnipeg. Upon leaving the north, Lori joined a friend on an "around the world" backpack trip
lasting 10 months. Returning to Winnipeg, Lori has spent 21 years working in emergency
departments in various hospitals (both tertiary and community), and in varying capacities (staff
nurse, educator, and now as a manager). Lori has spent the past 2 years as manager of patient
care at the Victoria Hospital where she has been a major part of the emergency department’s
redevelopment process.
Lori is currently working on her Masters Degree in Health Leadership. Shehas also completed
advanced education in emergency nursing and has a certificate in Adult Education.
Lori is married with 2 girls (12 and 9) and is kept busy assisting with homework and driving to
various activities. She enjoys photography, stained glass, a variety of physical activities and
gardening.
