The Position
Vacancies exist for nurses keen to become part of our team in permanent, fixed term or casual positions.
If you have a background in emergency nursing or a desire to pursue a career in this field we can support
you to undertake post graduate studies in emergency nursing. In addition we can offer skill enhancement
experience such as IV cannulation and ALS. Successful applicants also have the opportunity to be
involved in exciting programs including Nurse Initiated X-ray and Triage packages and a variety of
quality improvement programs.
The Department
The Emergency Department is a modern well equipped 8 cubicle department, including a resuscitation
cubicle. The department currently has approximately 16,000 presentations per annum with a diverse
range of presentations. Our Emergency Department nursing and medical staff are well supported by an
extensive and experienced group of consultants including physicians, paediatricians, Obstetricians &
Gynaecologists, other specialties and the local General Practitioners all provide 24 hour availability.
The Organisation
West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) includes an 85 acute bed hospital located in Warragul. We
were awarded a further ACHS Accreditation with an Outstanding Achievement rating for Continuous
Improvement in 2007. We implemented a 10 hour night shift late 2008. This will mean the afternoon shift
finishes earlier and staff will have a longer break between afternoon and morning shifts with a greater overlap of
shifts.

The Requirements
Experience or appropriate qualification advantageous
Flexibility with rostering
Willingness to learn new skills
Current CPR skills
Recent relevant clinical experience
Be enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated
Demonstrate a team oriented approach to care
Demonstrate a commitment to a consumer focus in the provision of care
Demonstrate well developed communication skills
Ability to cover a diverse range of activities to meet the Emergency Department’s needs
Demonstrate a willingness to work in all areas related to the Emergency Department
Availability to work all shifts including night duty, night duty only would be considered.
