					CBGA Membership Meeting Minutes
December 14, 2010, Butter Churn, Aransas Pass, 6:30pm

Meeting called to order at 6:33pm by Chuck West
16 members present, speaker, and Jack Campbell & David Pena (new member elects)

Minutes posted on website and copies present. Motion made by Mike Kocian and seconded by Steve Utley, to
accept the minutes as written – all in favor, motion passed.

Financial report presented by Jennifer Thomas
       Current checking balance $ 2,580.30
       Current savings balance $ 14,325.73
                             Oct income: $ 0
                             Oct expense: $ 2564.47

Board of Directors report by Mark Lyons
       Nominating committee announced: Jack Culberson, Dean Thomas, Doug Rives
       Banquet next month to six weeks,at Virginia’s in Port Aransas be watching email for details.

Chuck gave a report about the survey he sent out on wade Paddle Pole; 10 % of members responded.

Guest Speaker, Larry McKinney with TAMU Harte Research Institute and formerly head of Coastal Fisheries
with TP&W; spoke about the upcoming “User Conflict” Workshop instigated by Wade Paddle Pole.net, the
concept of the workshop, parameters to host such an endeavor, and the goals or expected result of said
undertaking. Question and answer session ended with Larry restating that he would like to see the CBGA
represented at the table and there were 3 seats reserved if someone would contact him with the names.

Committee Reports - none

Old Business
New website, any bugs, complaints or suggestions; one comment said it was fantastic and another comment
needed their icons updated.

New Business
Presentation and discussion by Mike Nugent from NACO on two upcoming issues that need the CBGA’s support as an
association member of NACO; BOD approved- First, is to oppose the idea of “catch shares” for recreational users;
Motion made by Mike Kocian and seconded by Mike Murphy to support NACO’s stand on opposing catch shares – all in
favor; motion passed. Second, is to support the overturning of NOAA’s 2009 addendum to the “Rigs to Reef” initiative
where a lengthy process and unbalanced fees are promoting scrap metal removal instead of reef building and unsavory
(cheap) means of disposing of some rigs; Motion made by Mike Kocian and seconded by Mike Murphy – all in favor;
motion passed.

New prospect members: Jack Campbell from Seadrift with Skinny Water Charters and David Pena from Corpus
Christi with Capt David Pena Guide Service
Motion made by Chuck West and seconded by Billy Trimble to accept Jack Campbell as a new member – all in
favor; motion passed. Motion made by Chuck West and seconded by Charlie Newton to accept David Pena as
a new member – all in favor; motion passed.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.
