Hi Folks,
As some of you have already found out – the Memphis Marriott Hotel has
decided to utilize a clause in our contract that allows them to charge more for
private showcase music rooms than the other rooms in the hotel. This is
unfortunate, as it has not been utilized in previous years of this event. The hotel
is raising the rate for Showcase rooms from $141 to $154 per night. However,
please note that this rate can only be applied to your Showcase Room, not your
upper floor sleeping rooms. As you can imagine, we find this extra charge a little
disturbing, but according to the hotel – “As this is the final year we are there, we
have no incentive to reduce the rate.”
So, to show our support to our Private Showcase presenters, we will rebate $45
for three/four night presenters or $15 per night for single night presenters from
the Private Showcase fee to all contracted private showcase presenters.
To claim your rebate, you must:
1. Complete and submit a signed Private Showcase contract.
2. Pay the standard $100 Private Showcase fee when you submit your Private
Showcase Presenter contract.
3. Attend one of the two mandatory Private Showcase Orientation sessions on
either Wednesday or Thursday.
Private Showcase room rebates will be distributed at the Orientation sessions.
We apologize for the confusion, but we do not want to see our conference
participants hurt by these Marriott decisions. We understand how expensive it is
to produce a private showcase and we are glad to help lower the costs just a little
for you.
