What To Talk About

• Today I'm Going To Tell You

About How We Catch Serial

Killers

• I'm Also Going To Tell you

About A Few of the FBI Cases.

Why This Topic?

• I Chose This Topic Because I Think It’s

Important To Be Informed About This.

People Say We Live In Patrick County and It

Could Never Happen To Us.

• How Many Small Towns Does This Happen

In Everyday?

• Id Also Like To Let People Know How They

Catch These Criminals.

What Makes A Person Hurt

Others

• Most Of The Time People Hurt Others

Because They Were Neglected As A Child

or Abused.

• They Think Very Differently Than Most

People Do.

• They Think That Everyone Should Be

Punished Because Of What A Neighbor Or

A Parent Have Done The Past.

Why Do They Pick These

Victims?

• Usually They Pick Victims That They

Think They Will Hurt More

• They Want People To Hurt More Because

Of How They Hurt When They Were

Children.

How Do We Catch These Kinds

Of Criminals.

• They Usually Use FBI Profiling or

Sometimes Forensic Science.

• With The John Wayne Gacy Case, They

Brought In A Psychic and That Helped

Catch Him.

The Forensics Behind

Catching Criminals

• Usually Forensics Are Used When You

Find A Deceased.

• You First Examine The Bones Or The Body

• You Then Go To The Place That They

Were Found And Look For Leads Of

Exactly What Happened.

The Forensics Cont’d

• The Person Must First Be Identified using DNA,

Fingerprint, or Dental Analysis.

• Then You Go To Their Family and/or Friends

And Ask How Long They Have Been Missing and

Who They Were Last Seen With.

• Other Evidence Must Then Be Analyzed, Such As

Fibers, Fluids, Or Other Particles Found at the

Scene.

The First FBI Profiler

• This Is Alan Brantley

• He Was The First Ever

FBI Profiler. He

Started In 1972.

FBI Profiling Used To Catch

Criminals

• This Method Was Created By The FBI.

• The First Phase Of This Method Is An

Assimilation,

• This Is Where All The Evidence And

Photos From The Crime Scene Are

Examined

• Then They Make A Hypothesis About What

Happened.

FBI Profiling Cont’d

• Once We Have Our Hypothesis We Go To The

Crime Scene And Examine.

• Look For Foot Prints and Finger Prints.

• Then We Search For Things Like Broken Glass

and Blood.

• If You Don’t Have Enough Evidence By Then

You Go To Family of The Victims And Ask If

Anything Is Out Of The Ordinary.

What Does It Take To Be An FBI

Profiler?

• You Have To Have Three Years Of FBI

Experience.

• You Also Have To Have An Advanced

Degree In Forensic Science

• They Make About $100,000 A year

• They Could Work At The FBI

Headquarters Nearest To Them

My Learning Preference

• I Scored A 10 On A Kinesthetic

Learning Style

• I Think My Learning Style Is Just

Right Because I Love Doing

Experiments In School

• I Also Love Doing Things That

Involve Moving Around

Kinesthetic

Kinesthetic Means You Learn Better When You

Can Touch Things And Hold Them In Your

Hands

It Also Means You Like Doing Things That

Involves You Moving Around And Working

With Other People
