For Schoolgirls wanting to continue their
                 enjoyment in the sport…

THE Brisbane and GPS Rowing Club is again running its successful Junior Development Squad
for schoolgirl rowers during the BSRA off-season, from October 2010 to March 2011.

This program is available to current year 10 and year 11 students wishing to continue their sport and
improve their fitness and skills in the summer months, and it provides sculling and sweep rowing
experience. The program is run parallel but separately to the club’s competitive under 19 (which is
open to current year 12 students) and under 23 women’s squad.

Will I benefit from the program?
Training generally is limited to three days per week, and is an opportunity for all to maintain and
improve fitness levels and technique through the spring and summer.

Some girls may wish to compete in the under 17 events at the Australian championships at West
Lakes, Adelaide in March 2011 for which a special program is being organised.

Many graduates of the program in recent years have rowed in their schools’ first eights, and have
continued their rowing into the club’s successful young members’ squads from which this year came
five Australian representatives in U23 and U19 crews and two other girls who represented
Queensland.

How much will it cost me?
Membership of the club will be available from October 2010 – March 2011 to successful applicants
for a cost of $352 (including GST) plus $40 Rowing Queensland registration, if already a registered
2010 member of a club or $80 for new club members. The club membership fee includes the cost of
a club T-shirt and cap.
