Most anyone that has any type of backyard loves to landscape it. There is a great sense of pride in putting in flowers and shrubbery and watching it spring to life. There is also something to be said though about adding your own special unique touch to your garden landscape as well. It is true you can go to the local garden center and buy tons of décor and various items for your outdoor decorating. The problem is you and every one of your neighbors is buying the same thing. Try to be unique when it comes to your personal outdoor space. Here are a few suggestions that may help. White plastic lattice has so many outdoor uses. You can build a vine garden with it very easily. All you have to do is build three walls with the lattice. Make sure it is anchored well to the ground. Now if you plant rows of morning glory's along the ground close to the lattice in no time at all they will trail all along and up the lattice. Now you have the perfect private garden to go, sit, and enjoy. Another great use for lattice is to cut it in strips and make various shapes out of it to house a small garden. The white plastic lattice is quite flexible. This means you can gently bend it to conform to a shape. For example, you can make a beautiful heart shaped garden display or a horseshoe perhaps. The cut strips also make great fence edging for your bigger gardens. Keep an eye out for some unique flower containers. Do not just go with the standard. If you put some rocks in the bottom of them, so the plant roots are not sitting in water you can use just about anything you want. Start scouring the garage sales for some neat ideas. How about picking up an old tricycle and putting a nice full pot of flowers on the seat of it. You can utilize an old wheel barrel for a stunning arrangement of flowers. Then you could hunt for some big old urns. Turn them on their side and pack the soil and flowers into them. Just let the flowers spill out naturally. If you want something different for décor, then take a walk and try to find some big old rocks. Once you find some nifty one use your imagination and paint them. Not just a solid color, but also perhaps a "Welcome" rock would work perfectly. If you are creative, you could paint some flowers on them or some other neat scenes. Next time you are at the dollar store keep your eyes open for things that you can convert to some unique garden items. For example, there are some cute bird feeders that you can find for a dollar or two. These can be easily converted into outdoor candle holders. Just make sure they are fire safe. Lots can be done to add your personal touch to the outdoor landscaping. This is certainly going to draw the attention of your neighbors.
