ANSTON CRICKET CLUB
NEWS FROM THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
SEPTEMBER 2008.
1. A very warm welcome to new members :
Family social: Matthew Smith, Rachel Barraclough, Richard Hale and Gordon
Walker. Single social: Frank Abel.
2. Anston Dynamos FC will be using the cricket club changing facilities again
this winter and their season has now begun.
3. The Annual Dinner and Dance will be held at Bondhay Golf Club on 18th
October at 7.30 pm. Presenting the prizes this year will be Dave Smith from
the 442 hair salon in North Anston. Dave has been helping to promote our
cricket this season and has been a great sponsor. Tickets are £18.50 available
from the Hon Sec Janet King. (01909 564605)
4. On the 21st September, the Officers warmly welcomed Robert, Joan and Pat
Needham, and Robert Wyatt to the clubhouse. These two families have
presented benches to the club and they have been dedicated to David Needham
and Hubert and Cathlo Wyatt. Grateful thanks to the families for this great
gift. If anyone would like to donate a bench in this way, please contact the
Hon Sec Janet King.
5. The Poker League has been a resounding success so far, and it has been agreed
that this will be run again from January 2009.
6. A Golden Boot Quiz night will be held on Friday 10th October – further details
and tickets from the Chairman of the Cricket Committee.
7. Extraordinary General Meeting. Members met at an EGM on the 16th
September to discuss the future management viability of the club, because a
number of roles and responsibilities had become too heavy for a few
individuals. A very positive discussion ensued, resulting in a number of
volunteers stepping forward. In future, the following individuals will lead on
the projects as described:
- Greenlands Park Bookings co-ordinator – Eric Haykin.
- Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening Organisers – Gregg Pearson
and Andrew Ruczenczyn
- Cleaning Rota Organiser – Maggie Lound
- Publicity Officer – Andrew Ruczenczyn
- Chairman of Building committee – Eric Haykin
- Website Administrator – Neil Carter
- Child Welfare Officers – Gregg Pearson and Darren Norris
- Assistant to Club coaches – Steve Braithwaite, Nathan Morris, Eric
Haykin.
- Groundsmen : Andrew Forster, Mark Parkinson, John Lyne, Alan
Platts, Nathan Morris, Leighton Hill, Ashley Morton.
- Chance to Shine Manager (part post) Andrew Barley
- Under 15’s Manager – Eric Haykin.
There are a number of other voluntary roles which remain vacant. Further details or
an informal discussion with the Hon Sec Janet King.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th November at 7.30 pm.
