I’m not sure which cliche to begin with

,I’m not sure which cliche to begin with, so how about, you can’t make up stuff

like this. The viral nature of the internet struck twice for one person in

the past 24 hours, with a tumblr site and a seemingly unrelated YouTube video

involving a rapper cooking pancakes.MeetMac Lethal. Our story begins on a site

titled. Here, someone documented text messages from their 17 year old cousin

Bennett. According to the site creator, Bennett is a ―17 year old who thinks

he’s a Crip, works at Amoco, has a girlfriend named Mercedes, and is one of

the most unintentionally funny and brilliant souls on the planet―.Here’s an

example of one of the texts, which was just uploaded today. The description

for the image is ―Bennett and I discuss dog bites―:The messages get even more

ridiculous, with one concerning the movie Old School, or is it Vincent Van

Gogh? You might be asking yourself, wasn’t there a viral YouTube video

somewhere in this story? Well, of course there is. Because the gentleman on

the Texts from Bennett site is none other than the rapper.– ―The rapper who

was on this video from earlier today on reddit, Mac Lethal, is Bennett’s

cousin. He’s the one texting him.―. On the same day that Texts from Bennett

picked up steam, so did his YouTube video. Which is none other than Mac Lethal

rapping to ―Look at Me Now‖ by Chris Brown while cooking pancakes. Oh, he’s

rapping about cooking pancakes too.So, our latest internet sensation not only

has taken YouTube by storm butbased on a completely unrelated, but just as

hilarious website. As many have mentioned while watching the video, you can’t

use metal spatulas on a teflon pan. Let’s try and keep it

professional.,,Although the AT&T / T-Mobile merger seems to be on life

support, you’ve got to admire AT&T for their latest statement, one which

proves that if they go down, they want to go down swinging.AT&T has hit back

at the FCC, who earlier this week issued a reportas bad for the country. Some

of the FCC’s main points revolved around long-standing objections to the deal,

for instance – the merger would actually kill jobs instead of growing them

like AT&T has promised, that it’s possible for AT&T to build its own 4G LTE

network without T-Mobile (market competition would spur that on), and that

the merger would simply make AT&T into too much of a giant.Incredited to AT&T

Senior VP of External Affairs Jim Cicconi, the company lashes out in what

reads like a giant ―f*ck you‖ to the FCC’s notions of fair analysis. We expected

that the AT&T-T-Mobile transaction would receive careful, considered, and

fair analysis. Unfortunately, the preliminary FCC Staff Analysis offers none

of that. The document is so obviously one-sided that any fair-minded person

reading it is left with the clear impression that it is an advocacy piece,

and not a considered analysis. In our view, the report raises questions as

to whether its authors were predisposed,Cicconi goes on to talk about the

FCC’s assertion that the merger would be a job-killer:Because the report

effectively concludes that the billions of additional investment promised

by AT&T to deploy 4G LTE mobile broadband service to 55 million more Americans

over the next six years will occur anyway, it concludes those billions will

create no new jobs and spur no new investment by others. Yet, just two weeks

ago the FCC announced that its new $4.5 billion broadband fund, which will

help to deploy wireline broadband to a much smaller number of Americans-7

million- over the same time period, will create ―approximately 500,000 jobs

and $50 billion in economic growth over this period.‖ This notion — that

government spending on broadband deployment creates jobs and economic growth,

but private investment does not–makes no sense.,In terms of the FCC’s

assertion that the merger would damage competition, AT&T calls out FCC for

failing to stay consistent in regards to its own statements:The FCC’s Mobile

Competition Report this year concluded that 90% of all Americans have a choice

of five or more facilities-based wireless carriers, not including competition

from resale providers. Yet the draft report on our merger dismisses the

significance of the FCC’s own official finding in assessing the competitive

impact of our merger.,They conclude with a request for people to read the

FCC and they will see how unbalanced it really is:We have summarized here

only a portion of the infirmities we see in the FCC’s report. We would

encourage all observers to read the report itself. We believe that the utter

absence of balance is clear, and demonstrates that the document lacks all

credibility. The decision to issue such a report that has no legal status,

without a vote of the Commission, and in a proceeding that has been withdrawn,

was also without precedent, and underscores that this was intended more for

advocacy and to impact public perceptions. And neither is a proper basis for

action by a regulatory agency.,Will any of this change anyone’s mind? That

remains to be seen. But this statement clearly demonstrates that AT&T isn’t

afraid to fight for this deal. What do you think about the merger? Let us know

in the comments.,,The Internet sky is falling, says the Internet. But that

isn’t exactly true. Not yet, at least. An analyst with Sanford C. Bernstein

& Co. in New York, Craig Moffett, wasyesterday for predicting that at least

one of the major cable operators, probably Comcast Communications or Time

Warner Cable, will initiate a usage-based payment scale next year for

Internet-loving customers. He anticipates the change in billing plans due

to the growing number of Internet users watching more and more movies through

services like Netflix and Hulu. As more cable subscribers cancel their service

and defect to watching videos online, cable companies are looking for ways

to minimize the attrition of customers. Through a usage-based service plan,

all of those Netflix and Hulu flicks you’ve been watching online will start

to be reflected in higher bills if you watch enough of them. But don’t go

updating your Netflix plan to resume receiving DVDs via mail just yet. One,

this pot has boiled once before. Time Warner had a go at testing ―Consumer

Based Billing‖ in 2009 butafter the public made it patently clear that they

disliked this idea. In their statement after the fall-out, Time Warner stated

―that it is working to make measurement tools available as quickly as

possible. These tools will help customers understand how much bandwidth they

consume and aid in the dialog going forward.‖Yeah, because customers can’t

wait to pay more to use the Internet just to find out how much bandwidth they

consumed while plowing through the final three seasons of Lost.Ultimately,

it’s likely this strategy from the cable companies will be regarded as an

attempt to wrest back their subscribers that have migrated to the Internet

in search of their viewing pleasures. In, Netflix General Counsel David Hyman

said changing to usage-based billing services ―is bad news for consumers and

threatens to slow down the innovation powering today’s Internet economy.‖

Added to that, consumers have grown accustomed to free Internet since… well,

since the Internet. An effort from cable companies to apply a limit on how

much customers can use the Internet based on how much they pay – even if those

customers could technically afford it – is likely to go over about as well

as the last time a company tried this.Despite the gloomy prediction that our

land of Internet-y milk and honey may soon come to an end, the Bloomberg piece

did conclude with a spell of optimism:Cable’s best option is to find ways

to profit from the online shift, said Moffett. If the companies were to lose

all of their video customers, the revenue decline would be more than offset

by a lower programming fees and set-top box spending, he said.―In the end,

it will be the best thing that ever happened to the cable industry,‖ Moffett

said.So tell us: would you be willing to pay for your Internet use based on

your amount of usage?, Because the gentleman on the Texts from Bennett site

of Internet-y milk and honey may soon come to an end, and in a proceeding
