Critical Feed Use - Managed Haying Conservation Reserve Program (2008) Wisconsin Job Sheet 148 Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) CRP Owner: _______________________________ Haying Producer: ___________________________ This plan is for CRP-1 No.: ___________________ Farm Number: _____________________________ Tract Number: _____________________________ Field Number(s): ____________________________ Total Acreage: _____________________________ Total to be Hayed: __________________________ PURPOSE To provide for haying on eligible Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) fields in 2008 only. CRP participants may use their CRP acreage for critical feed use or may lease the privilege to any other individual. ELIGIBLE CRP PRACTICES CP1: CP2: Establishment of Permanent Introduced Grasses and Legumes Establishment of Permanent Native Grasses • • REQUIREMENTS Participants must request a voluntary modification to their CRP contract from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) prior to harvesting hay. Participants will follow the requirements of the modification to their conservation plan and this job sheet to allow haying. The modification is only applicable for 2008. Complete all hay harvesting and remove all hay from CRP acreage before September 30, 2008. Limit haying of CRP acreage to (1) one cutting. Cannot hay and graze the same acreage. Do not harvest more than 50 percent of the acreage of each field. Cannot hay the acreage prior to August 2. Managed haying cannot occur on the same field for three subsequent years. Haying will not be permitted: on any CRP cover not listed above as eligible for Critical Feed Use. on any CRP cover within 120 feet of any stream or other permanent water body. Wisconsin CP4B: Permanent Wildlife Habitat – Corridors CP4D: Permanent Wildlife Habitat CP10: Vegetative Cover – Grass – Already Established If the cover fails as a result of haying, the CRP owner must re-establish the CRP cover at their own expense. CONSERVATION PLAN MAP The attached conservation plan map identifies the portion (≤ 50%) of the field(s) selected by the CRP owner for haying. The USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
