STARS IN YOUR EYES
We have decided to do stars in your eyes for our main
fundraiser this year. No date has been set as yet but it
will be in June or July. We are looking for volunteers to
perform an act so if you are interested in performing
please speak to a member of staff.

CHILDRENS BELONGINGS
Could parents please ensure children have hats, scarves
and gloves in their bags as the weather is getting colder
now. Could you also ensure that all your children’s
clothes have their initials on them. Also staff ask if
children’s bags could be as small as possible to save
space.
GOLDEN TIME
Could parents please ensure children have a small toy
from home in their bags so they are not disappointed at
golden time when their friends are playing with their
toys. We ask that only 1 item be brought in so toys are
not misplaced. We cannot be responsible for expensive
toys brought into nursery and would ask you to be aware
of this.

WEBSITE AND EMAIL
The nursery’s website glencoats-lodgenursery.co.uk is
coming along well and is updated regularly. Please take
time to have a look. We can also be contacted by email
at glencoatslodgenursery@yahoo.co.uk

ROOM NEWS
We would like to welcome Pierre and Ciaran to the Little
Sparklers room and Tyrell to the Busy Buddies room.
This month the Little Sparklers room and the
Tiddlywinks room will be food tasting and learning
about the Chinese New Year and Valentine’s day. The
Busy Buddies are focusing on Eco this month and would
ask you to bring in all your recycle products. The
children have been looking at the recycle areas on boxes
and have been learning about the blue recycle bins, could
you please encourage this at home. They are forming a
Eco committee, the children will chair the committee
and they are looking for their mum’s and dad’s to be
involved, if you are interested in this could you please
speak to Lisa or Stephanie.
FEES
As you are aware we have an annual increase of fees at
the start of April each year. Lorraine has looked at this
and has decided to leave the increase until Monday 1st
August as she is aware of the current financial situation
and this will give parents a break from ever increasing
bills.

IMPROVEMENT PLAN
We are still asking for suggestions from parents, children
and staff on areas they would like us to improve on for
2011. If you have any suggestions please speak to
Karen.

SPANISH /MUSIC AND MOVEMENT TEACHERS
Heather our new Spanish teacher will be starting on 14th
February. Stacy our dance teacher started back on
Tuesday 11th January and the children are really enjoying
their time with her. Can parents please ensure they pay
their £1 on the day so their child can take part in the
lesson. Otherwise the charge will be added to their
invoice.

PARENTS COMMITTEE AGM
The parents committee will be holding their annual
general meeting on Tuesday 7th February 2011 at 6pm
All parents are welcome to come along to forward
themselves for positions or forward other parents. We
are always looking for new members to be involved.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parents are the most important person in their child’s life
and we as nursery practitioners recognize this and want
to include parents as much as possible in their child’s
learning at nursery. We understand time can be an issue
but we ask parents if they can even spare 10 minutes to
take part in a drop in session, they will see how
beneficial they are and how much your child gets from
them.

STUDENT PLACEMENTS
We have been approached by Reid Kerr college
requesting placements for students to allow them the
experience of working in a nursery environment. They
will be starting with us mid February, we would like
your opinion on how you feel about student carrying out
there placements with us and also how you feel they are
performing. All feedback is appreciated.

NURSERY TIMES
Could parents please ensure that they bring their children
to nursery by 11am to allow us to count them in our
numbers for lunch and to allow the daily routine to flow
as smoothly as possible. If your child is going to be
absent from nursery please let us know by 10am. I
would just like to make parents aware that staff attend
training sessions in the evenings and recently they have
been held up at the nursery after 6pm which then affects
their training. Could parents ensure they collect their
children by 6pm so staff can then lock up the building as
