Lexington Two Community Coalition
By-Laws
Name
The name of the coalition is the Lexington Two Community Coalition.
Mission/Vision
The mission of the Lexington Two Community Coalition is to serve to collaborate with all
community sectors to develop local solutions that will improve quality of life and create safe,
drug free communities. Our vision is that our youth and families will live in a community that is
safe, healthy and drug free.
Offices
The Coalition office shall be at LRADAC, P.O Box 50597, Columbia, SC 29250.
Service Area
The Coalition shall serve the Lexington Two School District area (Cayce, West Columbia,
Springdale, Pine Ridge and South Congaree).
Authority
The Coalition is principally accountable to the community it serves.
Membership
Membership in the Lexington Two Community Coalition shall be open to any parties who share
an interest in the community and are committed to the goals of the Lexington Two Community
Coalition. Categories of membership will be Organizational, which shall include public and
private agencies, institutions or voluntary associations, and Individual.
Voting Eligibility
Voting eligibility is based on the classification of membership, as follows:
a) The officers of the Lexington Two Community Coalition will be the Coalition
Chair, Coalition Vice Chair, Subcommittee Chairs, and one Member at Large.
b) The Coalition Chair shall have power to appoint the subcommittees and ad hoc
committees with the consent of the general body.
c) Officers shall serve one-year terms from September to August, shall be elected at
the first meeting of the Lexington Two Community Coalition after September 1st
each year, and may be elected two consecutive terms.

d) Voting by the general body shall be limited to those present. Decisions shall be by
majority vote.
Coalition Meetings
The Lexington Two Community Coalition shall meet at a minimum of six times per year as is
necessary to carry out the organization’s agenda and goals. Official business of the general body
shall include the election of officers and amending the bylaws. The annual meeting of the
Coalition shall be held during the month of September. The election of officers shall be held at
the annual meeting conducted in September.
Committees, Task Forces and AD Hoc Groups
The Coalition shall have the following standing subcommittees:

Community Assessment
Public Relations
Cultural Competence
Additional standing subcommittees, including the officer nomination committee, may be added
at the direction of the Coalition. The Coalition shall also have the power to establish task forces
and ad hoc groups as deemed necessary.
Staff
There will be a Lexington Two Community Coalition Coordinator and additional staff to serve as
support to the coalition. The duties of the Coordinator shall be delineated in writing and
reviewed annually. The Lexington Two Community Coalition Coordinator is an ex offico
member of the Coalition and an employee of LRADAC. LRADAC serves as the fiscal agent of
the Drug Free Communities grant.
Amendments
These By-Laws may be amended by a vote of two-thirds vote of those members present and
voting at any duly called meeting of the Coalition. Coalition members shall be provided with a
written or electronic copy of proposed amendments at least five days prior to a scheduled vote on
the amendments.
Indemnification
The members of the Coalition shall not be personally liable for any debt, liability or obligation of
the Coalition.
