Athlete of the Week

Andrew Chadderdon

By Juliana Moore

Freshman midfielder Andrew Chadderdon has been

named the nE-10 conference men’s lacrosse rookie of

the Week twice so far this season, and he only expects

more success as the season goes on.

How long have you been playing lacrosse?

i've been playing lacrosse since i was 6 years old, i also

played hockey for a long time so i like to think that playing hockey

my whole life has made me a better lacrosse player.

What is the most memorable moment of your athletic

career at Le Moyne so far?

My first career goal vs. Seton Hill. It was pretty exciting to get

the first one out of the way in our first game.

Are there any specific goals you have set for yourself or

for the team this season?

Everybody on the team expects to win a national

championship. that’s the reason why i came to le Moyne, to

compete for a national championship every year. that’s my goal

and i think i speak for everybody on the team when i say that is

all of our goals.

Is there anybody specific who has pushed you to be able

to play at the level you are at today?

if i were to credit somebody it would have to be my brother

Matt, who is a senior on the team. This is the first year we have

been on the same lacrosse team, but he has always given me

pointers on how to be a better player. i've always wanted to be

better than him.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I don't really have any specific pre-game rituals. I just like

to put the headphones on and listen to some Jay-z and Drake.

How does it feel to earn NE-10 Rookie of the Week

honors twice so far this season?

it’s an honor to be named nE-10 rookie of the week. i give

all the credit to my teammates though. When I'm on the field,

there are usually 5 senior all-americans that i’m out there

playing with. so it makes getting open and scoring much easier

because the attention is always drawn to them.

By Juliana Moore

Featured Coach How long have you been coaching?

this is my fourteenth year as a head coach and all of

Men’s Lacrosse Coach Dan Sheehan them here at le Moyne.

Have you always known you wanted to be a Coach?

it wasn't until i graduated from college and began as

a volunteer assistant here.

Where do you practice and how often?

We practice on the turf field in front of Athletic Center

— six days a week.

What is your team's overall philosophy?

We try to outwork our opponents every day.

Describe your coaching strategies with respect to practice

and competition?

We try to build the fundamentals in practice everyday,

so when game day rolls around, our players are in the best

position possible to make decisions on the fly.

Favorite memory coaching here at Le Moyne?

our teams that won a national championship are

certainly up there. Every september we hold our alumni

game here at le Moyne. getting a chance to see many of

my former players as they move on in the game of life is

always nice.

Do you have any specific goals for this season?

getting our players to compete day in and day out like

it is the national championship game. this will certainly

help to prepare them for that moment should we be

fortunate enough.
