"I WILL BE

SUCCESSFULL

IF..."

By: Carolina Amador

When I grow up I want to be an

actress.

WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE AN

ACTRESS...

Actors work in theatres, radios, television, motion pictures,

and videos. Few actors ever become famous, some just stay

working as extras with little or no lines at all. It is hard for

an actor to find a job, so they must be very patient.

However, when they do find a job they last for only a short

period of tme. Acting jobs can last from a day to just a

couple of few months only. Actors have to like to entertain

others and not be shy. There are schools actors can go to,

like the one I want to go to is called "New York Film

Academy." Also, to improve their acting skills many actors

like to work with a "Drama Coach." A drama coach is usually a

person with experience in acting which helps the actor

improve their own skills in acting. Actors make money

depending on their fame, in 2008 the average actor made

$29.05 an hour. Many jobs for actors are in New York and in

Los Angeles, but there are also jobs in other parts of the

country. However, many actors are leaving their jobs

because there is too much stress involved, there is also too

much competition, and some don't get paid well.

WHY DO I WANT TO BE HEALTHY?

I want to be healthy because I want to be able to live a healthy life and

accomplish my dream of being an actress someday. I want to eat healthy

because actors need to be very well fed in order to work accurately. I also want

to exercise and do Yoga, because this will help me relieve stress. This will be

very helpful in my job, because actors have a very hard time searching for jobs.

I will also need to have enough sleep, because actors work in random hours

such as during night. Having a high self-esteem will also help me because then I

will be sure that I can succeed in my career. Positive decisions and setting goals

for myself will make me improve in my job, becuase I will accomplish even

more than I would as that if I hadn't set goals for myself. Being healthy will

benefit my life in a major way because not only will it wil help me accomplish

my goal of becoming an actress, but it will also help me during my career,

because my dream career includes way too many stressing situations and

factors.

FOOD

What: My goal for this six week program and the

rest of my life, is to eat at least 9-13 fruits and

veggies a day.

Why: This is because according to the "Food

Guide Pyramid," eating 9-13 fruits and veggies a

day will make me healthy. (pg.171) Fruits and

veggies also contain vitamins, minerals, and

fiber. (pg.172)

When: I will start doing this today, until the day I

die.

Where: I am going to start here at SDSU by eating

fruits and veggies.

How: To start off, I want to eat nine fruits and

veggies a day. I will eat three during breakfast,

three during lunch, and four during dinner.

STRESS

What: My goal in order to reduce stress is to

exercise.

Why: Exercise helps your body deal with tension,

which will help take stress away. (pg.83)

Where: When Mr.Neihbors makes us do bootcamp

today, I am going to participate 100% in all of the

activities.

When: I will start doing this today, and keep on

doing it when I need to relieve stress.

How: I will try to get as much exercise as possible

during my day.

SLEEP

What: My goal is to sleep a maximum of eight

hours each day.

When: I am going to go to sleep at 10:0opm, and

then wake up at 6:00am.

Where: In my dorm during night time.

Why: Because while you sleep your body recovers

from stress aquired during the day. (pg.148)

How: I will achieve my goal by taking quick

showers, and by not staying up too late.

SELF-ESTEEM

What: I want to build a high self-esteem.

When: I will start working on it during the six

weeks were here at SDSU. Then hopefully after

the end, I will already have a high Self-Esteem

built.

Where: I am going to start here at SDSU, and

keep on building my Self-Esteem.

Why: (pg.50) I want to build a higher Self-Esteem

because it affects life in many ways: It increases

respect, your ability to reach goals, willingness to

try, and etc.

How: I will do this by trying out new things, and

most importantly being successful.

DIABETES

What: An important goal I have for myself, is to

stay free of diabetes.

Why: People from diabetes suffer of increased

thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, nausea, and

etc. (pg.356) Therefore, I don't want to go

through all of that, so I will eat healthy.

When: Everytime I eat I will eat healthy because

that is going to help me. (pg.358) I will also

participate fully in P.E at all of the workouts.

Where: I will start making it a habbit here at

SDSU, so that when I go back home I will be free

of risk of having diabetes.

How: To prevent diabetes I will reduce the

amount of stress in my life, I will avoid tobacco

products, maintain a healthy weight, exercise,

and eat healthy. Those are all the key to being

diabetic free.

POSITIVE DECISIONS

What: I want to make good choices throughout my life.

Why: It is imperative to me to make good decisions in life,

because all deciosions tooken affect every aspect of life.

Also, myself and others will have to pay for the consequences

of MY decisions. (pg.29)

Where: Making good decisions is important everywhere,

because you basically make decisions everywhere you go

without even noticing.

How: The best way to make a decision is to

follow the "GREAT" acronym. Each letter stands for a diffrent

phrase that helps you make good choices: (G) Give thought to

the problem, (R) Review your choices, (E)

Evaluate the consequences of each choice, (A) Access and

chose the best choice, and finally (T) Think it over

afterward.

When: I am confronted into making a new decision in my life.

This might be like at school, or at one of my friends house.

Media Influences

What: Another of my goals in life is to not let

myself be fooled nor influenced by media.

Why: What people see on TV or hear on the radio

is automatically right to them, however that is not

true!

When: When I am listening to the radio or

watching TV, I will first try to find out the truth

behind it.

Where: I will search for information about how

true or false a "fact" is in the computer lab or in a

book.

How: I will NOT believe the lies that are said by a

"paid actor."

having contact with chemicals and things that

cause cancer.

formaldehyde are also responsible for cancer. I

will remain healthy by staying away from all

the chemicals, the sun's UV rays, and tobacco.

because this will be my home for the next six

weeks.

How: (pg.42) I will achieve my goal because for

the next six weeks I will be surrounded by good

(healthy) influences... My teachers. Whenever I

need advice on how to eat or exercise, I will just

go ask one of my teachers.

DRUG-ALCOHOL

What: My goal is to never get involved in drugs

nor in alcohol.

When: I want to stay drug and alcohol free for my

entire life. I will achieve this by simply saying

"NO" to who ever offers me either drugs or

alcohol.

Why: I want to stay away from drugs because

they cause difficulty to speak, think, suffer of

fear, anxiety, depression, and loss of

consciousness. (pg.291) I want to stay away from

alcohol because when you drink you lose the

ability to make good decisions, follow complex

thoughts, and deal with difficult situations.

(pg.243)

Where: Inside and out of school, I will reject

drugs and alcohol by simply saying no.

How: I will learn how to say NO, and resist peer

pressure by being strong. Another thing that will

help me, is that I KNOW WHAT I WANT... and

acting dumb is not included.

OPTIMAL WEIGHT

What: My goal is to reach my optimal weight

which would be around 110-120 pounds.

Why: I want to prevent myself from being obese,

because obesity causes: heart disease, high blood

pressure, type 2 diabetes, and sleeping problems.

(pg.194)

When: I will start working to reach my optimal

weight during the whole six weeks program.

Where: I will work on my goal in the cafeteria by

eating healthy, and also in P.E by participating

more in running activities.

How: I will eat smart and excercise more.

Because if you burn more calories than you eat,

you will lose weight. Also, exercising increases

your energy and makes weight managing much

easier. (pg.199)

GREAT RELATIONSHIPS

What: A goal that I have set for myself, is to have

a much better relationship with my family.

Why: This is because the relationships between

my family members is very important to me.

Also, relationships between family members are

important because they teach us

who we are, and shape our

personality. (pg.418)

When: I will do this everytime that

me and one of my family members

are together. First I will work on

giving our relationship a strong base.

Where: I'm going to work on my

relationship with y family, every

Where: I will take care of myself everywhere I

go, and try not to use public restrooms.

When: I am going to take care of myself always,

so that I always have a healthy reporoductive

system.

How: I will also take care of myself by avoiding

sexually transmitted diseases. The ways to do

this are by using protection, remaining loyal to

one sexual partner, or best of all remain

abstinent. (pg.441)

HEART DISEASE

What: My goal is to stay free of heart disease.

Why: Heart Disease is a preventable disease

which I want to make sure to prevent. A heart

attack occurs when part of the heart muscle does

not recieve enough oxygen as a result of

insufficient blood flow. (pg.582)

When: I will work on accomplishing this goal

when it's time for me to eat. This is because what

you eat affects your blood a lot, and if you eat

too much bad stuff it can literally block your

arteries.

Where: I will start working on my goal here at

SDSU then, I will continue achieving it throughout

my life.

How: I will start eatinvg more healthy things like

fruits and veggies, and avoid unhealthy foods like

"nicotine" which is known as a very addictive

drug. Tobacco products also contain

"carcinogens," which are chemicals or agents that

cause cancer. (pg.264)

Where: I will remain tobacco free throughout my

entire life, wether I'm in school at my house or

any where else.

When: I will start now because the earlier you

start being tobacco free or trying to prevent it,

the better.

How: When I'm offered a cigarette I'll just say,"I

don't think I'll look cool with brown spit." Then I'll

just walk away.

EXERCISE-CARDIO

What: My goal is to work my cardio by exercising

daily.

Why: The heart and lungs get stronger, allowing

more air and oxygen to circulate around the

body. This will also help me stay fit which helps

prevent the high blood cholesterol levels, and

coronary plaque build up that can lead to a heart

attack. (pg.127)

Where: I am going to start running more in

Mr.Neighbors class during physical activity. Then

when I go back to school I'll join the soccer team.

When: I will start today in Mr.Neighbors class

when we do our daily jog.

that this will help me in future relationships.

Why: Compromise in a relationship matters a lot

because both partners work together to meet

eachothers needs. (pg.411)

Where: To practice compromising, I will start

compromising with my friends at school, and at

home with my family.

When: During the six weeks here at SDSU, I will

need to compromise with the girls to decide who

will take showers in the morning, and who will

take showers at night.

How: I will compromise with the girls in UB by

talking to them, and finding a solution that works

for all of us.
