Oasis Tree of Life
Campaign!
January 16th—April 27th
The I.F.I.T. Tree of Life Project will be an effort to raise
$50,000 to help homeless women and children in
Guam! With the shortage of federal funding simultane-
ously with the increase of homeless women and chil-
dren in Guam, we need YOUR support to meet the
desperate needs of these people! You or your organi-
zation can support the Oasis Empowerment Center by
purchasing a leaf ($500) or a branch ($2,000) where
your monies will go into the direct support of housing,
feeding, and supportive services for these women! To
reach our goal of $50,000 a total of 20 branches and
20 leafs must be purchased and we are pleased to announce that before we even kicked off our campaign we have
reached $4,000 already with two branches bought! The I.F.I.T. Tree of Life will be artfully crafted and displayed as the
centerpiece in our lobby at our new facility in East Hagatna (the old Chen’s Furniture Store). Every time these women,
whose lives are being changed at the Oasis, walk through the doors of the Oasis they will be encouraged by YOUR contri-
bution and support. To express our gratitude the Oasis provides the IRS 8283 Noncash Charitable Contributions infor-
mation to assist in tax credit for your organization. We also will express our gratitude to your organization in the Pacific
Daily Newspaper. On April 27th, we will invite all supporters to come down to the Oasis and plant a tree to symbolically
represent their contribution for the I.F.I.T. Tree of Life Project. Come, partner with the Oasis and be a part of our first an-
nual I.F.I.T. Tree of Life Campaign! Stay tuned for more details on the I.F.I.T. Tree of Life Project as we will kick off the
campaign on January 16th in honor of the Oasis Empowerment Center’s 7th year anniversary!
Point-in-Time Homeless Count—January 27th, 2012
The Guam Homeless Coalition and the Interagency Council on Homelessness will join the rest of the nation on January
27th, 2012 in identifying individuals and families who are homeless on Guam. A Point-In-Time Count, will be the tool to
gather data on homelessness in Guam with volunteers and members from the community leading this initiative. We will
also be giving out blankets and other supplies to the homeless people in Guam. Oasis Empowerment Center, a member
of the Guam Homeless Coalition, will take part in coordinating volunteers for this
annual project and look forward to all individuals who volunteer their time and
skills on this day. The data collected from the Point-In-Time Count will be used
by homeless service providers, the community, and policy makers in developing
programs and facilities to assist and benefit the homeless population. Formal
requests will be sent out in early January with more information on the Point-In-
Time Count Survey, but any other volunteers that would like to be a part of this
day may contact the Oasis Empowerment Center. We appreciate all volunteers!
