WAIS Divide Science Coordination Office (SCO)
DATA AVAILABILITY FORM
Dear WAIS Divide Ice Core PI –
The WAISCORES Data Sharing Policy requires that PIs keep the SCO informed about what data they are collecting
and when that data will be available to other WAIS Divide investigators. This information will be shared with all the
WAIS Divide PIs so that we can all optimize our analysis schedules. You may revise this information at any time. This
information will not be used to evaluate or judge the progress of your work. The information is being used to assist in
identifying gaps in our science program and to assist other investigators in prioritizing their measurements.
==========
INSTRUCTIONS:
PIs should assume that ice down to 3,330 m will be available to them by September 2011.
The statement should provide information on every measurement planned on material from the air, surface or
subsurface within 10 km of WAIS Divide. Where applicable, the information should include the compound, element
and isotopic information, etc. The sampling strategy should be described in terms of the distance between samples,
time between samples, specific time periods, or conditions that will trigger an analysis.
It is important to list all the measurements you make, even if you are not funded to make those measurements. This
information is required by NSF, and is helpful to your colleagues, so we can maximize the science from the project
while minimizing the effort. If you are planning on making measurements that you are not funded for, you are also
required to directly inform Julie Palais and the SCO that you are planning to do so. If the measurements you are not
funded for require additional ice that was not requested in your proposal, your sample request for the non-funded
work will be considered separately from the sample request for your funded work.

Measurements and Data Availability
List the measurements you are planning on making, the sampling strategy (see instructions above), and when
you anticipate the data will be available to share with other WAIS Divide investigators. For most groups the data
will be released incrementally. An example is listed below.
Example:
Electrical Conductivity data, measured continuously at mm-scale resolution
DC-ECM: 0-560 m already posted on web site
AC-ECM: 0-560 m, already posted on web site
DEP: 560 to 1450 m, will be available December 2010
DC-ECM: 1400 to 1950 m, will be available February 2011
AC-ECM: 140 to 1959 m, will be available February 2011
Multitrack ECM: 1950 m to 3330 m, will be available February 2012
