1. Language is sometimes called the most basic element of culture, followed closely by religion. Why might language be
more basic than belief?
2. Consider major conflicts in the world today. What percentage of these conflicts has arisen over issues related to
religion? Why do religious conflicts occur? Is it only that religious ideologies disagree or is geography involved? How
do you think religious conflicts can be resolved?
3. Why do territorial conflicts often arise among religious groups?
4. Describe four ways in which the environment influences religion. Describe four ways in which religions affect the
natural environment.
When you get finished with your “Q to C”, write your “Ch. 6 –Key Issues #4 outline” (due Monday).
After your outline is completed, you have the option to earn up to 10 points extra
credit!
Extra Credit Current Event Assignment (due Monday)…
-You have the option to find a current event that relates to either LANGUAGE (ch. 5) OR
RELIGION (ch. 6).
-Complete and submit a “Current Event” write-up (standard C.E. format) over this extra
credit current event.
