New year, new buildings

 The new buildings and quad have brought

a lot of excitement on here on campus for both

the faculty and students

Story by Hana Brannigan | Managing Editor

A fter a little more than a year of anticipation, modernization is finally complete and has sparked interest

throughout campus. With a new pool, music room, fitness center and quad, the facilities are becoming

the new hot topic.

“I think with the new buildings it looks like an entirely different campus; like two high schools were

put together,” junior Camille Laubertie said. “It looks very nice.”

Even though the outside architecture is pleasing to the eyes, within the walls are add-ons that help

students and teachers do things more efficiently. These include a recording studio and climate-controlled lock-

ers for band and choir, new lockers and team rooms for the swimmers and more modern exercise equipment

for the fitness room.

The buildings not only enhance one’s learning experience, but they’re also environmentally-friendly,

complete with solar panels on the roof of the quad. The choir and band rooms also feature Enviro-Tech green

technology, which brighten or dim the classroom lights depending on the light coming from the windows.

As well as being eco-friendly, new and more advanced accompaniments were also added to the choir

and band rooms.

"It's incredible because they had a professional acoustician and design the room based upon the

shape, the materials in it and create the best sound that they can for our group to play in," band teacher Brad

Harris said.

These new additions seem be advantageous for everyone, but there’s one feature that seems to

receive the most positive feedback amongst the teachers: space. With an upgrade on space compared to the

small portables they used to be in, teachers find it more convenient for both themselves and their students.

“It’s great. We finally have room to do what we need to do…we’ve always been in kind of small

spaces,” choir teacher Rob Blaney said. “In the old H-building there wasn’t enough space to combine the
