Bold, brassy and brilliant! Join us for Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s first concert in our
Thursday Morning Masterworks series.

This concert will feature the young French horn virtuoso, Alex Miller, to perform Mozart’s
Horn Concerto No.3. This is a fiendishly demanding work involving a surge of golden sounds.
It incorporates a reflective Romanze central movement and a rollicking “hunting” style

“I'm looking forward to performing Mozart’s piece because his music always resonates with
audiences, and this particular concerto is both fun and beautiful,” Mr Miller said.

“I can't wait to meet the orchestra members. I have been going along to their concerts for
years now, and it will be a real thrill to actually be one of the team on stage,” Mr Miller said.

“This will certainly be the biggest performance I have ever given, and I will be playing with
some of the best musicians in the world and in front of audiences who have come to expect
the highest standard when the Queensland Symphony Orchestra performs,” Mr Miller said.

The Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Section Principal Trumpet, Sarah Wilson, will
perform Haydn’s brilliant Trumpet Concerto.

The musically acclaimed Mats Rondin will join the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to
conduct Dvorák’s superb Fifth Symphony.

Mats Rondin has a prodigious musical profile as a cellist, a chamber musician and, most
recently, a conductor. Rondin studied at the Swedish Radio Music School in Edsberg and
later in London. He has conducted all the symphony orchestras and major chamber
orchestras in Sweden, along with other numerous ensembles in Scandinavia. Rondin has
featured on a number of recordings as cellist and conductor. Rondin is currently professor at
the Malmo University College of Music.

The Queensland Symphony Orchestra is Queensland’s only full-time professional orchestra.
