How To Purchase A Personal Mobile Device
1. Programs To Run On Your Device
I want to run a word processor, a music player, and a calendar. I want to purchase
Microsoft Word, and run Windows Media Player. The calendar would also be in
Microsoft format.
2. Cost
I want a lower priced PDA since I have very little available resources. The cheapest PDA I
found was $237. The most expensive was $700.
3. Wireless or Telephone Capabilities
I would want wireless capability. I would not need cell phone access, since I have a
phone in my room. With wireless, I can use instant messengers.
4. Wireless, How and Where You Will Use This Service
I would use this service pretty much anywhere. I would use it in class for homework
projects and to connect with others. I would use it at home, school, and work.
5. Make Sure Your Device Has Enough Storage
I would seek a PDA with storage capability of 80 GB. This way, I could store all my files
from my computer to back up everything. This might lead to more cost though.
6. Practice with touch pads, keyboards, and handwriting recognition before purchase
I would prefer a PDA operated mostly by keyboard. I feel more confident with a
keyboard, because they are not as sensitive as touch pads. Touch pads can get
annoying.
7. Color Display
I want a color display. I would want the screen to look desirable, since I would be
spending a lot of time on the PDA. Color is easier on the eyes, too.
8. Compare Battery Life
Battery life is not too important to me. As long as there is an efficient way to charge the
PDA, I am not bothered by short battery life. An additional battery would be nice,
though.
9. The Importance Of Ergonomics
I would carry the device in my pocket, therefore I would want it to be small. I have small
pockets, so the PDA would have to be very small. I would prefer a small PDA anyway.
10. Check out the Accessories
I don’t need too many accessories. Some accessories would be nice, such as a docking
station or additional outside speakers. Accessories are not necessary though.
11. Additional Functionality
I desire no additional functionality. I am content with the factory functionality. One
function is plenty.
12. Synchronazation with other devices important
It is important that the device is able to accept music from my computer. That is the
only synchronization I would need. I do not need it for word documents or for the
calendar.

I did not have the memo template, so I attempted to create one from memory.
