Bible Exhibition
Carrubbers Christian Centre
Gilmerton Primary School, Edinburgh
Outline
There are various examples of good practice across Scotland involving churches or faith-based
agencies that mount educational exhibitions to which schools are invited. These include the
Bibleworld Experience based at the Scottish Bible Society’s Headquarters in Edinburgh and their
touring interactive exhibition: Bibleworld SBS Studios. For further details of these go to:
www.scottishbiblesociety.org/about/bibleworld
This Case Study highlights the Bible exhibition mounted by Carrubbers Christian Centre in the
centre of Edinburgh.
Dramatic Presentation
On a number of occasions, Gilmerton Primary
School has organised a party of P4 and P5 pupils
to visit Carrubbers Christian Centre, when it has
mounted a special interactive exhibition. At the
event, actors appear in the role of different Biblical
characters. There is a play, and a quiz with a
generous supply of books and prizes. Additionally
a visit to the main church auditorium allows an
investigation of the role of the church in the city,
as well as of aspects of worship. The visit is
rounded off with (understandably popular) free
refreshments.
At Gilmerton, the visit was linked specifically to a topic on key figures in Christianity. Pupils
discussed their knowledge of Jesus, the disciples and other key figures they were familiar with
e.g. Mary, Noah and Moses.
