Austrian Village looked like two centuries ago. Beethoven wrote

some of his immortal works here, using several accommodations.

Via “Höhenstrasse” with a great view over the city and the

mighty Danube the journey continues to Klosterneuburg with its

baroque abbey. Here the famous Altar of Verdun is on display.

Back to the city, the Prater is situated near the downtown area.

The hilly areas around Vienna have been immortalised by

Roman times for therapies.

The romantic Helenental inspired Ludwig van Beethoven to

some of his works.

You will visit the Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz with its

cloisters and the tomb of the last Babenberger ruler.

Franz Schubert was the second famous musician spending

parts of his short life in this area. The Höldrichsmühle, where

he wrote the Lindentree-song, revives memories of this great

composer.

An inside visit of the Benedictine Abbey, a jewel of Austrian

baroque architecture, makes us acquainted with monastic life in

former times.

After lunch you will enjoy the boatride to Dürnstein, which

shows us the most romantic stretch of this second-longest river

of Europe. Pass vineyards, orchards, fortresses and castles and

hear about the history and the many legends connected with

this region, that for its beauty and strategic value always

attracted invaders.

You will arrive in Dürnstein, that had kept his medieval

character. A stroll through the ornate lanes will put us back to
