Black & Decker WBM500 Belgian Waffle Maker Review
Written By: Michael Hayes : Read My Full Product Review There is nothing better than home-made waffles with your own recipe, and they're convenient and also a lot of fun to make. I recently decided to invest in a new waffle maker because I was sick and tired of trying to make frozen, cardboard tasting microwave waffles. They are awful. I purchased, after much discussion and debate the “Black & Decker WBM500 Belgian Waffle Maker” I have to admit that it does probably the best waffles I have ever tasted. The waffles came out of the waffle maker so light and tender. They were a far cry from the frozen ones that you have to cook in a microwave. The waffle maker by Black & Decker is extremely easy to use. You simply plug it in , wait for the ready light to go out, fill the grill with your batter mix and you are done. The waffle maker has a very short cord which is quite a good idea as far as a safety aspect goes. You don't run the risk of tiny hands over reaching and being able to pull it off. The Cooking time on this model takes around 4-5 minutes which I would suggest you don't make the mistake I did which is lift the lid before the end cooking time or you will cause the batter to stick and making an awful mess. Another advantage I have found with this model which you can't do with microwave cooked waffles is leave them in the waffle maker after it's switched off and it will keep it warm until your ready to eat them, they stay warm without any further cooking which is great. On first use, you will have to condition the grill, this is simple process of heating up the waffle maker until the ready light goes out then rub the non-stick surface with cooking oil and then remove any excess with a paper towel. This conditioning is essential and will prevent you're waffles sticking to the grill. If you do run into little mis-haps as we sometimes do then cleaning the maker isn't a problem. Cleaning up is very easy, all you have to do is wait until the unit has cooled down, then wipe the area with a damp sponge. I would recommend Black & Decker WBM500 Belgian Waffle Maker to anyone who likes to make home-made waffles that are made fresh, from your own recipes and only contain ingredients that you put in without any chemical or unknown additives.
