Coral Tree Cafe Gives Back to Schools in Los Angeles
with a JFS Gold Sponsorship
Coral Tree Café achieves Gold Sponsorship from the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles'
Tools for School Program by donating $2,500 towards supplies for children of LA living
below poverty level.
Los Angeles, Oct 27, 2011 -- On October 15th, 2011, Coral Tree Café proudly
achieved the title of Gold Sponsor for the Jewish Family Service's Tools for School
Program, a "project whose goal is to prepare children to start the school year with the
tools they need to feel competent, motivated and proud to attend school, furthering
their education and development" (JFS of Los Angeles). With $100 raised through
customers, and a generous $2,400 in cash donated by the café, Coral Tree Café is
happy to be able to help the surrounding community by providing children school
supplies and the support they need to succeed.
About JFS Tools for School
Studies have shown that children who have the basic tools required in the classroom
actually have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem, leading to greater
achievement and socialization in school. The goal of the JFS/Tools for School
Program is to provide backpacks, furnished with the necessary basic school supplies,
to more than 2,000 children who live below the poverty level. Many of these children
are identified by JFS though our JFS/SOVA Community Food and Resource
program, three domestic violence shelters, homeless shelter, and various other JFS
family service programs. Since the inception of the program, the number of children
who have been the recipients of school supplies has more than tripled.
