Blood Pressure Checks the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month after the 8:00 a.m. worship service in the
Office Conference Room.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR MEALS ON WHEELS
The joy you share will reward you for your time and transportation expense.
The current roster of volunteers is in need of a new coordinator as well as more drivers and their spouses
if available to manage this vital outreach program in the community. Berea is assigned one week every month
and a different driver is assigned each day of the week, Monday through Friday. Routes consist of meals for
about 8 people living at various locations in Richfield. Meals are picked up at 11:15 A.M. at a church in
Richfield and the meal warmers and coolers are returned to the church at the end of the route. The Coordinator
schedules the drivers and attends the annual meeting and the drivers deliver a life line meal to a grateful shut-in
one day per month. Contact Bobbie Zelinsky for more information at 612-929-0631.
LWML Cards. Thanksgiving cards are on display on the top tier of the table rack in the Fireside Room. Also,
for the Fall Festival, we are getting ready a selection of small table-favor "boxes" for Thanksgiving, Christmas,
and Birthdays. These are made from the fronts of greeting cards and are cute for holding small candy bars,
trinkets, or money. These cost 50 cents each.
Call for Nominations for Pastor - The Berea Call Committee is receiving nominations for pastor
through the end of day Monday, November 14, 2011. To make your nomination, please fill out the
“NOMINATION OF PASTOR” form and submit it to the chairman of the Call Committee (Paul Hickey), the
President of the congregation (Dick Vohs), or the church office (in a sealed envelope). The form must be filled
out completely and received by the due date for your nomination to be considered. To check the name and
current address of the person you are nominating, you may look at the Lutheran Annual in the church office or
online at http://locator.lcms.org/search.asp. Forms may be found on the tract rack or requested from the church
office.
Holiday Toy Store Collection Needs - Most of us have warm winter wear to keep out the cold, but
not everybody in our community does. VEAP will be distributing hats, mittens, scarves and fleece tied
blankets through their Holiday Toy Store. Consider adding these essential items to you holiday gift list
for VEAP.
Fall Food Program needs: Remember to support VEAP this fall by helping them get their most
needed items; which are tuna, rice, canned chicken, canned beef stew, canned chili, canned ham and
SPAM, bags of dry pinto and black beans, peanut butter, flour and sugar. Remember these foods
provide cross cultural choices don’t forget to add them to your grocery list.
There will be no Education Hour today. Come to the Fellowship Hall between
services for a Sloppy Jo, soup, hot dogs, donuts, or some coffee. Visit with others and
enjoy the holiday atmosphere!
Pizza and a movie, next Sunday, November 20th, Noon - 3:30 p.m. Please join us in
the Youth Room (7-12 grades).
EMBERS OF BEREA
Monday, November 21st - 1:00 p.m.
Please join us for a fun-filled afternoon playing “The Dice Game.” Everyone is welcome!
Fellowship and refreshments will follow.
The Senior Choir Christmas Cantata is December 18th. Traditionally we have a reception
following the service as a time for fellowship. We are asking for food items to be
donated for this special day. Please check the list in the Narthex to see how you can
contribute to this event.
Jonathan Opdahl will be taking orders for Poinsettias’ as a fundraiser for his school baseball team. The
cost of a Poinsettia is $15.00 and the plants come in white, red and pink. If you are interested, see Jonathan in
the narthex or call at 612-927-7562.
Do you want to invest in the future of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod? Do you want
your children and grandchildren to have all the benefits well-trained pastors provide? If so consider
a gift to the Adopt-a-Seminarian program. Encourage John with your prayers and make his
preparation financially possible.
The 6th Annual Holiday Benefit Concert for Families Moving Forward performed by The Lake Wobegon
Brass Band conducted by Michael Halstenson will be held at Colonial Church of Edina, 6200 Colonial Way,
Edina on Friday, December 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., arrive early for best seats. Your free
will offering will help to fund our emergency shelter program plus advocacy and supportive services for
families moving into permanent housing. Refreshments will be served.
