The Mystery - Christ Reenacting Himself Again on Earth

Travis Bryan III

The mystery of God is Christ (Col. 2:2). The mystery of Christ is the church, His

body (Eph 3:1- 12; 5:32). The great mystery revealed only by the Apostle Paul is that

Christ (the mystery of God) is re-enacting His birth, life, living, sufferings, death, burial,

resurrection, glorification, ascension, and session in and through the church, His body

(the mystery of Christ) in this age of grace. The second Adam, Christ (1 Cor. 15:45), the

New Man, walked on the earth 2000 years ago. In mystery form, He still walks in spirit.

As he mysteriously re-enacts himself again on earth, we daily participate, share or

fellowship (1 Cor 1:9; Eph 3:9 KJV) with Him in many aspects of our union with Him (1

Cor 6:17):

• His Birth - 2 Cor 4:16 (“renewal” is revival or to be born anew each day);

Titus 3:5

• His divine nature -2 Pet 1:4

• His life-Col 3:4; 2 Cor 4:10-11

• His emotions - Phil 2:1-2

• His living - Phil 1:21; Gal 2:20

• His mind - Phil. 2:2-5; 1 Cor. 2:16

• His sufferings- Col 1: 24; Phil 3:10

• His Death -2 Cor 4: 10-12; Phil 3:10; Gal 2:20; 1 Cor 10: 14-22; 11:25-26

• His burial - Rom 6:4-5 KJV (Gal 2:20, “I have been crucified,” and Rom 6:5

“planted with Him,” are both in the perfect tense in (Greek which means a

past event with continuing effects);

• His resurrection - Phil 3:10

• His glorification - 1 Cor 2: 7- 8; Rom 8:19-21

• His ascension - Eph 1: 20 compared with Eph 2:6; 1 Tim 3:16 (His ascension

and the church’s rapture both referred to here)

• His session - Eph 2: 6

• His rest -Heb3:14-4:ll

• His triumphal procession - Col 2:15; 2 Cor 2:14

• His judgeship - 1 Cor 6: 2-4

• His work – Col 2:9; 2 Cor 6:1; 1 Cor 15:10

• His ministry -2 Cor 5:18-19

• His ambassadorship -2 Cor 5: 20

• His putting away of Sin - Heb 9:26; Rom 8:13; Col 3:5-10

• His power - Eph 1:19-20

• His inheritance of riches - Eph 1: 11-18

• His image - Col 1:15; Rom 8:29

• His hope- Eph 1:18.

The collective Old Man was crucified with Christ (Rom 6:6). Today, the collective

New Man (Christ as the Head and the Church as His body) is progressively emerging

(Eph 4:22-24; Eph 1:22-23) as a result of our continuing participation with Him in all of

His above listed aspects. This “participation” in the Greek language always involves an

intimacy of knowledge in the relationship. Not only are we one with him today as His

body, we are also one with Him as His bride (Rom 7:3-4). Our mystical fellowship and

union with Christ is The Mystery. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. May we all

come to apprehend and comprehend what is “the breadth and length and height and

depth” of this mysterious emerging New Man (Eph 3:18, Job 11:5-9).
